I open my eyes hoping for things to be different from yesterday but as I look around I realize things were still the same.

I sit up from my bed and stare at the wall for a while thinking of how I wish things were.

I then decide it was enough lamentation and enough feeling bad for myself today so I stand up and walk to the bathroom.

With all the patience in the world I take a shower and get dressed. Before walking to my dresser to do my hair I pick my phone up to see the time to then realize that I was late for school. I brushed my hair and ran downstairs.

Mom: "Honey come eat, it's not good to skip breakfast"
Me: "I know mom, I'm late I'll eat something one the way, love you"

I rushed to school. Luckily when I arrived the teacher wasn't there yet.

It was finally break time and I was starving since I was not able to eat breakfast this morning because it got too late as I was getting ready.

On my way to the lunch hall I heard someone calling from behind

Ari: "Tati, wait up"

It was my best friend and only friend Ari. We've known each other since middle school. There's many differences between us only physically though. I am Latina and she is Korean, but aside from that that if I was gay I would say she was the love of my life.

Me: "Will you look at that it's my soulmate" I said with a wide smile on my face.

Ari: "Will you look at that is my soul mate" she repeated with an even wider smile on her face.

We call each other like that because we are so alike excerpt with our taste with boys, I like cute, talk, kawaii guys but she likes manly, hot boys. It's a good thing though, at least we know will never have fights over boys. I love her so much she's the best.

It feels like we were made for each other. Not in a sexual romantic way though.

Ari: "So how do you feel?"
I kept quiet as I devour my food. I was starving.
Ari: " Don't tell me you are planing to give up"
I stayed quiet
Ari: "Tati?" She insisted for a response
Me: " What's the point in hoping? Ari all the girls in school are in love with him, more beautiful, nicer, smarter, than me. What makes you think he will choose me?" I said still savoring my food. When I eat I don't care about anything else, i feel like is just the food and me.
Ari: " Come on you are beautiful and smart too, and if he don't see that then " she said with frustration in her tone

I looked at her with sadness in my eyes in my eyes and said
Me: " Can you let me eat" I said as I was eating ramen which is my favorite thing to eat in the world. Anything that has to do with Asian cuisine I love.

She chuckled and said
Ari: " Fine, but you need to stop pulling yourself so much. You are so beautiful and so many guys like you"
I walked up to her and gave here a kiss in the cheek
Me: "Yeah, Yeah"

I knew she was right but I am very insecure about myself, even if guys try to talk to me and ask me for my number I never give it to them or just ignore them completely.

When I got home I saw mom and dad sitting in the couch, it seemed as if they were waiting for me.
Me: "I'm home" I said as u walked up to them nervously wondering what they wanted to talk about.
Mom: " Honey we need to talk" she said she ohh a worried tone on her voice
Me: "What's wrong?"
My dad looked at me
Dad: " We are worried about you" I looked at them confused, I didn't say anything and waited until they were done so the conversation was shorter.
Mom: "Honey you are graduating High School in a few weeks"  I looked at her with my I know face.
My dad gasped and said without hesitation
Dad: " Are you gay?"
Me: "WHAT??!"
Mom: " Honey don't worry we will love you no matter what but honestly we would like you to tell us" I laughed out of confusion
Me: "What makes you think I am gay?" I asked with a smile on my face
Dad: "See I told you it was true" my mom poked him and out her index finger on top of her lips looking at him signaling him to be quiet
Mom: "Well you never had a boyfriend and you never mention any boy that you liked"
Dad: "We only see you with that friend of yours that you call soulmate" my dad said with an uncomfortable expression on his face
Mom: " Yes we actually thought you two were dating, and we were a surprised because you are still a virgin" I looked at her confused
Me: " Yes, and what's the issue with me still being a virgin?"
Mom: "Well it's not normal most girls aren't these days at your age" I looked at her and chucked
Me: " I know, but I am not like those other girls, there's nothing to worry about I am not gay. I'm just waiting for the right person" my dads face brightened when he heard me say that
Dad: "That's my princess" he said with a smile on his face
Me: "And mom, dad, Ari is just my best friend" I said as I ran to my room.
