To explain without explaining. To compare to differences, to simplify something complex into something understandable. And then, we romanticize them. We make poems and songs and we fall in love with the fantasy.
Metaphors are fun, beautiful, and painful.
Like a shard of glass from a fun house mirror, covered in blood.
Issues never resolved turns into a storm.
Roman saw his eyes stare back at him. As two parts of pride, Roman and Remus have these special mirrors. They show you all kinds of different things. Like a fun house.
The mirrors have names, all very different.
What you are
What you aren't
What you look like as a girl
What you look like as a dog
What you don't want to be
What you could be
And many many more. These...are the Shards of Creativity. Each mirror grew from a crystalized piece of him. That's how they work- they're fueled by Creativity.
Roman and Remus are the ones that made up his heart (Roman) and his mind (Remus).
They were scared the other parts would grow into something...awful...the thoughts he had the impulses he acted on. They're all represented here, frozen as mirrors staring at you, before they could become a danger to Thomas.
Roman spent so much time infront of what he never wanted to be, sometimes he forgets that the mirror isn't the truth.
He was crying, sobbing, everything he couldn't stand standing before him as he cried.
It's nice to know that everyone cares. That Virgil and Janus love him, that Patton and Logan released their fears for him.
But how do you just erase years and years of self doubt?
Roman once thought his heart was a coconut. He was okay with that. But now, it's smashed open and messy and in pieces- but unlike he originally thought...nobody left him alone.
But now he doesn't know what he is.
A coconut is a metaphor.
A heart is a real, beating, complicated...
Disgusting thing.
