"Finally!" I thought. I quickly picked up my books and put on my headphones. I made my way out the door and through the hall. "I made it," I thought as I stared at a white industrial door. I opened the door. Power Loader was in there waiting for us, I go in. Mei as if on cue runs in and reprimands me for leaving my new best friend behind. I flinch at the words 'best friend' "We're..friends?" I felt bad for interrupting her speech, but I needed to know if I heard her right. "Yeah, of course! We've bonded. And we made a baby together!!! We're totally BFFs." I smile at her sentence. I've never had a friend before. Well, I was Bakugou's friend. But he wasn't mine. We could tell Power Loader was questioning the use of the word 'baby' since he spat out whatever he was drinking at the moment and started mumbling. Which caused us to burst out laughing. Soon enough, everyone got there. Powder Loader began to explain the assignment.

"First off, who's your favorite pro hero?" he asked. Most everyone said Power Loader or some other Support hero, because of support course and all. So that fueled the surprise when I mentioned someone completely different. "Eraserhead." I spewed out when it came to my turn. Silence. Then, questions. "Why him?" "He has nothing to do with support!" and so on. Eventually, Mei shushed them and told the class to let me answer the questions. I gave her a grateful look and started on my explanation. "With the way his quirk works he essentially fights quirkless, and me being a quirkless kid, you get it." Everyone let my explanation marinate before spitting out a harsh "what" in unison. "Apparently, you guys didn't know he was quirkless." Power Loader said. "Majima-Sensei, why weren't we made aware of this? He could get hurt by an explosion or something." a random kid said. You could tell by first glance, it was written all over my face I was annoyed. "Do any of you have a protection quirk?" I spoke, slightly shouting in the process. It took a while, but then it was just radio silence. I let my mouth silently and smoothly slip into a smirk "Then how are any of you better off than me?" I finished, lowering my voice a tad bit. The topic was dropped after that, and class went on.

"Your assignment is to create support gear based on that hero. Yes, Midoriya?" Everyone's eyes shifted to me, just great. "I was wondering if we could take a design we already have and just modify it a bit?" "You most certainly can! Although you don't have to modify it if your fine with it already." and with that, I began. I made a few tweaks but came up short. That is until I had a big idea. A few minutes later, I was approached by a boy. He had purple hair, blue eyes, and from what I could tell, he sat in front of me. "Hey Izuku, right?" He said. I inevitably got confused. Did he need something? We all got our own tools, and he could ask Power Loader for more supplies. "Um, yeah you're right. What do you need?" "I just wanted to let you know I was impressed by what you did at the entrance exams, so I came to introduce myself. I'm Hisoka Ito." Now that I think about it, apart from Mei, he was the only one who didn't react to me being quirkless. He just took it as a fact and left it to be. "Oh nice to meet you, and thank you!" And my friend group grew.

I ended up getting the third-best grade. I tried to modify my design, but it malfunctioned, leaving me out of time and with no choice but to go with the original. It sucked, but at least I didn't get the worst grade. We were now making our way to home, Me Hisoka and Mei I mean. Then I saw him. Katsuki Bakugo. Now, I have nothing against Katsuki I just refuse to face my past. After living with my dad for so long, it would be awkward to talk to him. Plus, he has a knack for noticing subtle things, so he might recognize me. So I guided my newly-founded friend group away, careful to avoid suspicion. Of course, it wasn't the actual way I needed to go. It was a shortcut. That's a shame. I wanted to talk to them more, oh well! There's always tomorrow.

*time skip brought to you by Bre*

Today, I made sure to be on time. I packed my things the night before and set my alarm to be just earlier than 6:20 am. I got up, took a shower, brushed my teeth, got dressed, and even had time for a proper breakfast. We had free period first thing in the morning, so Mei went to the lab, and Hisoka and I went to the library. Hisoka was interested in mechanic books, but today I wanted to learn about plants. I want to connect plant biology to machinery for a project I had in mind. Mei went to the lab to help out with the machinery part. I'm lucky to have her. I'm glad to have both of them.

*mini time skip to the second period*

Our seats were established yesterday. Hisoka in front of me, Mei to my right. And our classmates surrounded us obviously, but we didn't care about them. Just our little group. We have math for the second period, so Ectoplasm was our teacher. He was the subject of the math problems. An example: "What are 12.16 Ectoplasms to the power of 9?" and crap like that. I wasn't all that great math, especially for a support course student. Hisoka and Mei were pretty good. Lots of students weren't paying attention. They either thought it was boring or thought they were too good for 'the basics' or something like that. Ectoplasm definitely noticed. "You'll need this for the showcase, so I'd fix my act and start paying some attention, yeah?". There's a showcase? "Mei, Mei," I whisper. She doesn't notice. Fine. Tearing a piece of paper from my notebook, I crumble it into a ball and underhand throw it at Ectoplasm from below my desk. "Okay, okay. Do you think you're funny? Who threw it?" while Ectoplasm's distracted, I whisper again. "Mei, Mei!" this time, she answers. "Yeah?" "What is the showcase?". "You don't know?" this time, Hisoka spoke. "No? What is it?" "We'll tell you at lunch."

*time skip to lunch*

"So," my friends and I were walking to lunch, and I just had to know what this showcase was about. "what is the showcase?" Hisoka opens his mouth, but it's Mei that speaks. "It's where support kids get paired with hero course kids to make gear for them, and then they both present it at the showcase." Hisoka starts speaking now. "The support kids make at least three inventions that fit the hero kids needs, actually work, and are convenient." "It's gonna be super fun, and bonus! There's no limit to how many babies you can make!" wow, that.. "Sounds like a lot of work," I don't know if I'm good enough for that. I'm okay for a beginner, but to actually show off? I'm not sure. I mean, when even is this showcase? Do they have it every year? Is it even safe? The gear on stage in front of people without the proper safety precaution. And what about... "Um, Izuku? Are you okay?" "I agree with that question Steampunk, you've been mumbling for quite a while now." Oh. I hadn't realized. "I'm fine, just a habit and- wait. Did you just call me 'Steampunk'?" "Yeah! Cause we both like Steampunk. I've decided that's your new nickname." "Oh, okay. I've never had a nickname." that conversation ended with everyone smiling. A non-zero-sum game.

*time skip to the last period*

"Today, I'm required to mention something to you five months early." Power Loader sighed. Someone is in a bad mood. "We have a showcase coming up. You've probably heard about it. Still required to go over it with the class. Here we go." Power Load got up from his desk, pushed his chair in, and made his way to the smartboard. Turning it on, he hooked up his computer, a video of the principal (Nedzu) came on. He pressed play.

Hello students, esteemed faculty. This video will be going over any details about the big showcase coming up! Now, if your teachers gave you this video when they were supposed to, you should get your pairings in about a week. If you check your email, you should see a video file titled 'Showcase. fts'; that's this video. Feel free to rewatch afterward on your own time. Now that that's out of the way, we may begin the informational part of the recording.

During the display, you will be given three main objectives: Meet your partners' needs, have at least three inventions at the ready, and showcase your abilities! The show will be held at the stadium. You and your partners will be able to schedule rooms to test and plan accordingly. You have a maximum of seven inventions per partnership. That's four over the requirement.

Mei pouts. "AW! I thought there was no limit!!" The class laughs, but Izuku is quick to console her. She was so genuinely excited it was upsetting for her to be disappointed.

If you should choose to create more than five, only five will be displayed. The rest will be sent in as extra credit. Administrators will test the remaining designs; if they work, the credit will be given. If even one fails, you don't get any extra credit. Good luck scholars, your teachers can answer any remaining questions. And as always, go beyond. Plus Ultra.
