Harley shifted restlessly as she scanned the shelves of her small village library. Her little tail flicked anxiously. Anna sensing her mood change, came over tapping her on the shoulder gently, the small deer let out a quiet but fearful bleat. Once she realized who tapped her she hung her ears in embarrassment.
”Oh Anna it's just you,” the red fox chuckled in amusement, “well who were you expecting? The big bad wolf,” the fox again chuckled.
Harley giggled, even though she was plagued with her own big bad wolf she wasn't going to tell Anna that.” No Anna haha, you know how easy I am to scare”, Harley stated.
The fox again chuckled, “ You got that right,” she teased, “ I came over because you look like you needed help,” Harley let out a sigh of relief. “ I do actually, I’m looking for some books on herbs and gardening?”
Anna smiled and motioned for the doe to follow her, after picking up her basket already full of fabric, plant seeds, flour, and eggs she trotted after the fox who was already pulling a few books off the shelves.
She handed them off to the small doe and asked if that was it. Harley nodded and trotted over to the checkout counter, after checking out her books she placed them in her basket. She had one more place to go but she wasn't excited about it if anything she was nervous but alas she needed new overalls. The ones she was currently wearing were falling apart at the seams. So she headed over to Megan's miscellaneous store, it was the only place that made overalls in her size.
As she entered, the shop's door made a soft ringing noise as a bell was hung above it so Megan and the other workers would hear customers come in. Secretly Harley was hoping that the lioness was at home that day, but later to her dismay and excitement, she found out Megan was not. Heading directly over to the overalls not really paying attention, her small body slammed into the predators, causing her to fall, luckily though none of her things spilled or broke.
She looked up to meet the lionesses icy gaze, her cheeks already red from the fall.” I… am s..sorry”, Harley stammered. The lioness chuckled with a smirk, “ Nice to see you too Harley. Need some help?” she held out a paw.
Harley took it and was gently pulled back to her feet. Brushing herself off Harley once again met the lionesses gaze, her face still rosy. “Hi Megan, I'm just here for some overalls,” she squeaked, picking up her basket.
The lioness grinned at the doe, “ Follow me, we just got some new ones in today,”
They made their way over to the rack of overalls, Harley immediately fell in love with two pairs, a tannish brown pair with mushrooms on the pockets and a blue jean pair with little cacti on them. She picked up one of each pair in her size and made her way to the counter, Megan not too far behind to ring her up. “Thank you,” Harley whispered, “ Don't mention it hun” the lioness smiled, and then said, “You should come by my place some time to see me more” and winked, the doe blushed and nodded dashing out of the store.
Harley decided to stop and see Maggie, Aidan, Drekken, and maybe Vivian before heading home. She had no idea where Jeremiah would be so she decided to just write to him later. She trotted over to Aidan’s garage to luckily find him and Drekken both there. “Hey! “ she called out to the wolverine and eagle waving at them, they both jumped at the sudden outburst then laughed when they saw who it was. “ Come on over here Harley”, called Aidan.
Her little flag tail flicked happily as she trotted over to them both. Drekken wrapped a wing around her and gave her a noogie. “How's our favorite little deer,” Harley giggled,” I’m doing pretty good, how are you guys?” she asked. “I'm doing alright,” replied the wolverine, who was wiping grease off of his paws. “Same here,” said Drekken, “I'm just talking business here with mister Aidan,” the wolverine nodded in agreement before disappearing inside his garage to get changed. Harley nodded along, “Oh okay, I was just stopping by anyways do you know where Maggie or Vivian is?” Drekken nodded and said that they were both at the diner. Harley nodded, alerting him that she heard what he said. She then smiled and waved goodbye to the eagle and trotted off to the diner.
