where grunge came from: grunge aesthetic/core was originated by punk rock (?) and grunge band fans the clothes are supposed to be messy and cheap they are supposed to be bought from thrift stores
the reason this wouldnt be grunge is bc it is expensive and clearly not messy/dirty/thrifted

most people would argue "well I dont want dirty clothes with holes in them" then why would you wear the grunge style?? grunge is all abt haveing messy clothes with holes In them its cheap and normally from thrift stores 😌👍
