"Angey, don't play with that, you're getting your brother all dirty", Taylor scolds as she removes a bucket of soil from Angelyne's little hands. "Josh, don't hit her!"
I smile as I watch them from a patio deck. We moved away from the city. It's much more peaceful now. I'm sure we'll move back once the kids are older but for now I love where we're living.
Markus was sick. Mentally. Childhood trauma, drugs, anything could have affected the way he acted. His obsession with Taylor is something I'll never forget. But it's a thought that remains at the back of my mind. A night time wonder, a daydream at 5am. He doesn't bother me anymore.Angelyne is six now. And Josh is three. They're the most amazing little angels and I am proud to call them my own. Everything's happened so fast. It's like only yesterday I was wondering if the girl at the Grammy After Party was really going to let me sue her for ruining my dress. Seventeen and curious, those years are far behind me.
Angelo's getting better. He wants to be a therapist and help people since he was so depressed about himself. I'm happy for him. No, thrilled. Absolutely thrilled.
"Angelyne!", Taylor yells as the little girl throws her tiny pail of dirt over her head.
I giggle from my seat and Tay notices. "What are you laughing at? It's your turn to bathe them"
"I could stay messy!", Angelyne smiles, clumps of soil falling off her clothes.
"Where would you live? If never let you stay in the house like that", Taylor says.
"Then I'll be a bird!". She raises her arms and flaps them, comically. Josh rolls his eyes and continues to roll a little toy car down the through grass. He's only three and already he's caught on to Taylor's sass.
"Birds don't get ice cream", I warn.
"That's not fair!", she wails.
After night falls and the kids are asleep, I snuggle myself in beside Tay. She's already fast asleep, bits of hair messily falling over her eyes. I brush them away and cuddle close.
"We did it, Taylor", I whisper. "We're okay"
