For some time, the gang has been led by a new generation in the Smith Family. It's always been that way. Female, Male, whatever they may be it's their job to be in charge of keeping the order to the gang. They don't have a choice of the matter either. The eldest of the children born will take the role as leader, having to go through special training. No one but the leader will train the child. It's the rules and how it's always been.
I landed on my back after getting punched in the face by my father. "You have to fight back. Hesitation is what'll ruin the gang," he said as he just stared at me. I looked up at him, knowing he won't go easy on me just because I'm his daughter. He'll continue to push me, more and more, in every training session we have. I sit up and rest my arms on my knees, panting to catch my breath. "You can't hesitate Madelyn, even if it's against me," he said in his fatherly tone rather than leader tone. I wish to make him proud, to prove I am ready to become leader when needed, but something inside me is holding me back. "Right, sorry," I said, looking down between my legs. "Sir, time for your checkup," a lady said.
I walked into my room to see my best friends Ivy, Declan, Ximena and Melody on my bed. "How did training go?" Ximena asked when she first noticed me. I scoffed and untie my hair as I walked to my dresser so I can grab some fresh clothes, bra and panties. "That bad?" Ximena asked. "I can't hurt my dad, no matter what," I said, going to my closet so I can grab my towel. "We'll let you shower, but remember we said we'll hang out with the group," Declan said as they stood up. Right, we were supposed to go to the bowling alley. I sighed and make my way to the bathroom. After 2 hours of training, I'm all sweaty and sore from it all.
I stepped out of the shower and began to dry myself before I put on my bra and panties. "Madi!" I heard Diego yell. Is he inside of my room? I wrapped the towel around my body and walked out of the bathroom to see my childhood best friend laying on my bed. "Diego, what are you doing? I'll be down in a minute," I told him. He sat up and leaned on his hands as he looked at me. "You take forever though. I'm here to rush you so get dressed," he said, falling back down. I rolled my eyes and turned away from him, knowing he wouldn't move if I told him too. I go into my dresser and look for an outfit to wear. "Don't wear anything too revealing," Diego joked. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my pants and a shirt before I made my way to the closet.
Once I finished picking out my outfit, I placed it on the bed and nudged Diego's leg. He turned his head towards me with an eyebrow raised and I crossed my arms over my chest. "Get out, I need to get dressed," I told him. He looked back at the ceiling and closed his eyes. "Don't act like I haven't seen worse," he said. I growled and picked up the shirt as I took off my towel. He's a pain in the ass with me but at least he gives me some sort of privacy, in his own way. I began to put on my clothes while he's on my bed doing whatever. I put my shoes on before I made my way to my vanity to do light makeup.
"God you take forever," Diego complained. I put on a clear lipgloss and grab my brush to just detangle my hair. "If you have a problem you can leave," I said, looking at him from my mirror. He flipped me off and stood up to go over to my desk. "I'm taking some candy," he said. I rolled my eyes and turned around to watch him dig around in my desk draw. "Has anyone told you that you act like a child," I asked as I watched him. He shook his head as he put a mini butterfinger in his mouth. "I only act like this around you because you're different. Now let's go," he said as he dragged me out of my room.
I got in the passenger seat of Diego's car, a 2015 Lamborghini Huracan, and placed my phone on his phone stand. We decided to have the boys drive and have only two people in the cars, so we are in a joint call. "Who are we following?" Diego asked as he got into the driver's seat. "Us," Hunter stated. Okay so the purple Lamborghini. Alright, Bowlmor Lanes here we come. "Madelyn," I heard my dad call out. I look out of the window to see Dad holding something. He leaned against the window and handed me a golden Colt 1911 56. "Take this with you just in case," he told me. I nod and placed the gun in the glove department. "Look after her Diego," Dad ordered.
I was listening to Melody and Declan as they spoke about a mission they went on as we all drove to Bowlmor Lanes. Though I wasn't paying attention to what was being said. I have to be the perfect leader, to make my father proud. Nothing can hold me back in the next training session. But I know I could never be the strong leader my dad is. I lean forward and mute the call, looking at Diego who was looking confused. "When I become leader, I want you to be my co-leader," I told him. His confusion turned to surprise as if he didn't expect it to come out of my mouth. "Wouldn't you want your boyfriend to be your right hand?" he asked. I shrugged and unmuted us.
"Yay, we're here!" Peyton said once everyone in the group was in front of the bowling alley. Yeah, yay. We walked in and I looked around to see there's less people than I thought there would be. We tell the worker who's passing the shoes out our sizes before we grabbed our shoes. "Girls vs. Boys?" Cole asked. Melody and Conner went to get our bowling balls and the lanes we're using. "Sure, if you want to lose," Ivy said with a snarky look. I chuckled and stood up after I finished tying my bowling shoes. "Talking a big game Poison Leaf," Hunter said as Melody and Conner came back.
We went to lane 3 and 4 and began to set up the scoreboard. "Do you guys need more players?" A random girl asked Diego. I arched my eyebrow at her while she twirls her hair. Oh, she's flirting with him. "It'll be unfair but you can be my cheerleader," Diego said, slightly flirting back with her. I rolled my eyes and took a seat behind a standing Nova who's looking at the scoreboard. "Who goes first?" Genesis asked. "Diego and Madelyn," Angel answered. So I sat down for nothing. I stood up and grabbed the purple bowling ball while Diego grabbed the pink ball. "Go handsome!" The girl cheered. I faked gagged and lined up my shot before I did it. The ball knocked down 7 pins and I walked over to the ball machine while Diego did his turn. "You have to knock down three, think you can do it?" Cole teased. I give him a fake glare and he laughs as I grab the bowling ball. "She doesn't stand a chance," the girl said, trying to get on Cole's good side.
"I think we should get a worker to help keep score since we're all playing," Brody claimed. The random girl stood up but Valerie pushed her back to the seat. "I'll get a worker," Valerie said before she walked off. I stood next to Declan as he worked on the score for both teams. The girls are 10 points behind but we have four more rounds left. "The boys are totally going to win. Girls can't play a sport and win," The random girl said. I gave her a death glare and she snuggles into Diego's side. "This is going to be round one, we can split off into different groups in the second round," Hunter suggested. I nod in agreement and heard footsteps coming this way. "Dee, there you are," a girl said. "Great, there's more of them," Ximena said with an annoyed tone.
"You guys needed help?" a guy asked. I looked to see Valerie with a worker. "We need someone to keep score," Hunter told the guy. I looked at his name tag to see his name is Zane. "Who's in charge?" Zane asked, looking around. "Diego is!" a girl yelled. I glared at her before I turned to Zane. "I am. My name is Madelyn," I told him, sticking my hand out. He shook my hand and gave me a warm smile. Hunter moves off the scoreboard seat for Zane to take a seat. "Who's up?" I asked. Ximena and Hunter walked up and grabbed their balls before Ximena took her first turn.
I stared at the girls as they were all over Diego giggling and flirting with him. "You should be the leader. Girls are too emotional to be leaders," one of the girls exclaimed. Okay so those pick me girls really try so hard to make him like them. "Yeah, and she looks like she'll ruin everything," Dee said. Diego looks annoyed with them, from the look in his eyes. "Diego, come here," Brody said, moving away from me a bit. Diego got up and walked over to escape those pick me girls. "Thank you," Diego whispered once he sat down next to me and Brody. I glanced at his hands and saw he was shaking. That's when it clicked. I can't believe I forgot. I laid my head on his shoulder as I glared at the group of girls and placed my leg on his for comfort.
