Clock's ticking. Pencil's tapping. Boring old teacher's at it again. What I would do to just get out of this jail. Clock's ticking. Five minutes until 12:43. In these five minute something can go down for the worst. That's the way I like to think of school. Just don't mind little 'ol me: Sam Gallo. The bell rings and I go down to next period, when suddenly the speakers turn on and I hear my principal talk.
"Attention students. Today we will be having a early dismissal due to incoming earthquakes. Please go to your locker and report to your bus."
The hallways rejoice. I go to my locker and head for the fifth grade section of our school. Our school is divided into four grades, grades five to eight. I'm a seventh grader trying to escape this world that I call school, and I start to head for the fifth grade section to pick up my sister, like I do every day.
"Come on, Sarah. Let's go home." I say, holding my little sister's hand.
"Okay, can we stop by Ally's house real quick? I have to return her Rubik's cube." My little sister exclaimed. She was always a good and thoughtful person.
"Sure, but if we do this then we have to stop by some fro yo place after."
My little sister jumps and screams to the excitement of her favorite food, frozen yogurt.
"Yaaaaaay, frozen yogurt," she screams as she runs forward. "I'll meet you ahead at Ally's house."
"Wait, don't go too far!" I scream, and she immediately stops.
Our house isn't that far away from the school so we always walk home. While walking Sarah leads the way to her friend's house. After we drop off the cube we go to get some frozen yogurt and head off to go back to our house. When we arrive home, our mom is just lounging on the sofa when she turns around.
"You guys are home early." My mom says.
"Early dismissal, another earthquake." I tell my mom.
"Alright, grab Doug and Sarah and bring them down to the bunker. I'll call your father and tell him to come home early too and get in the bunker. Then I'll meet you down there."
"Got it mom."
I grab my fluffy little dog, whose name is Doug, and Sarah and head down to the bunker and prepare for it. It is pretty neat in there. We have a generator, a propane stove, cans of food, bottled water and some matches. I'd say it could stand anything. Mom and dad eventually come in and we wait in there for the whole night. My mom says it's better safe than sorry, and tells us to get ready for school. We do and head to school. My sister and I separate to go to our sides of the school.
Before I know it, I am back in math class, tapping my pencil and waiting for the period to be over. Huh, five minutes until 12:43. I've been in this situation many times, and thinking of all the bad things that can happen, but this time is different. Something bad actually happens. This time a real earthquake happened and the whole school was buried with no escape.
