I woke up suddenly to see my father running into the door way "Laurianne, are you okay" he said panting. "Yes I'm fine, why?" I quickly answered.

"You were screaming, did you dream of those faceless people again?" He questioned me with a tilted grin. "yes,"

I lied, as always when this topic came up, I mean it is a partial truth, I did dream about them but they have faces now, and it's getting worse, I mean seeing the emotions in other people as elements I can see or touch. But I can't do that they're just the mist or light in their heart. It's just so confusing, and now the boy in my dreams told me not to tell any one.

"Well, all right then, but I have one more question." my father replied contently knowing how much I hate the topic on my dreams, "there will be no further questions" I stated calm and collected.

"well, okay. I'm going down stairs, I expect you down there dressed and completely ready in exactly ten minuets." as always he is so strict.

He gives me a time limit on everything I do, it drives me crazy. "Yes father" I stated emotionless.

He began to walk out the door, but he stopped and turned around "Oh, and don't forget you have training after breakfast." Crap I forgot, after he left I quickly got up and closed my door.

I dressed in my normal: jeans, a burgundy short sleeve crop top, tan half shin boots, and my long sleeve tan over throw that went down to my mid calf.

Dressed I went down stairs only to see Mel, my maid, making breakfast. "The usual miss?" She asked me in a deep southern ascent "yes, with extra protein" I replied sweetly. As she was making it I drank my morning coffee and went to go talk to my father.

"Shall I walk to day?" I asked him "Yes you will" he replied. It was so typical of him. "Anything else" I asked "No that will be all".

Just then my food finished cooking, I ran into the kitchen and sat down at the bar. I passed my empty coffee cup to Mel and she handed me my one glass of orange juice for the day and my food.

"Have you heard anything about your husband Mel?" I asked knowing this was a sore subject. "No not yet, all I know is that his cancer is getting better." she replied with a saddened look.

"Oh I'm sorry Mel I didn't mean to pry." I felt so bad. "No no, darling it's okay I don't mind. It actually feels better to talk to someone about it."

After finishing my breakfast I helped Mel clean the dishes grabbed my training bag and ran out the door giving my self ten minuets to walk two blocks, look in a few stores and get assaulted most likely once.

I know that sounds crazy but I don't train in business like my dad I train in the art of fighting and witchcraft.

My society excepted the fact that in order to survive we needed to know how to fight, this caused our society to become violent and destructive. They also excepted witchcraft as an art form not a dark magic.

A lot of people in my society didn't like this idea and began attacking witches specifically to try and force them to leave.

Also because of the plague we were forced to move back into the original 13 colonies.

Most of America was contaminated with the plague so only about three million people were taken and placed into the colonies for protection making the economy better for everyone which is why my dad has enough money to pay for all of my training, but I do have a job which is another one of my dad's rules.

I passed by my favorite store called Forgotten Charms and went inside, Miss Hart the store owner and her son Eric were there today "Good morning, Laurianne" Miss Hart greeted me at the door and gave me the charm I came for.

It was an old tarnished silver key on a metal chain with a rough piece of amethyst. I put it on "You look beautiful in that charm Laurianne" again Eric was flirting with me, yes everyone wants us to be together and he is gorgeous with his light hazel hair and green eyes, but I don't like him I like someone else.

I may not know who he is or what he looks like but I know he is out there.

"Thank you Eric" I replied in a sweet tone, I had to make it look like I did like him. "Well I must be going, thank you Miss. Hart." And I handed her my last payment.

"Wait!" Eric grabbed my hand he slipped on a brown braided leather bracelet with two tarnished silver charms- a tree of life and an infinity sign. "What is this for?" I questioned, "Just call it a gift" he said with a smirk.
