"A red convertible" - Chapter 1
Bree Stone is a young 26-year-old girl, born and raise in Chicago, in the best orphanage of the city, and also the most expensive one. Her deep-dark black hair had one peculiarity, she had one stripe of hair completly white. The origin of it remains unknown, since both of her biological parents decided to be kept anonimous.Bree is a private investigator, just like Sherlock Holmes but modern, and female. She works at her office, next-to Chicago's best hospital. For Bree, being a detective in Chicago is a mess. The city is full of crimes and sometimes, twisted morbus murders that make her feel excited. Thankfully, Bree is the best in the city at her job so she gets the juicy stuff, the psycopath killer stuff. At the end of the day, she just solved crimes with a smile on her face and reported it to the police station. If the crime contained blood and gore, than it was a reason to celebrate over drinks with her best friend, Austin. Austin Lee was the only person Bree would dare to trust in the whole city, that's because she knows he would never use anything against her. He was a medical forensic and worked next-to Bree's office, in the best hospital of Chicago. Bree and him shared one thing, the peculiarity in their hair. Austin was completly blonde but had one stripe of black hair in his bangs.
In 2014 there was a serial killer on the loose and everybody had to go in quarantine. For obvious reasons, the quarantine was enlarged until 2017, when Bree catched the bastard with her detective powers. It had been 5 years since anybody entered Chicago. Until one day, one foggy morning in October of 2019, when a long blonde haired woman entered the city in a red convertible, which shined through the boring colors of the city. From the front, the car had shiny silver details, a quite clean patent and the scarlet red paint that screamed not to be stained. It was definetly a car nobody in the city would ever forget. Bree was casually walking down the street, drinking her morning coffee when her eyes encountered the red car fastly passing by, making the fallen leaves flatter and move out of the way. The automovile was going in the same direction as her and slowed down when it arrived to the hospital. Suddenly, Bree had the feeling that the woman needed help so she ran to her as fast as she could.
The lady stepped out of the car in a hurry. Her beautiful body was covered by a stunning navy blue dress that fit her body to perfection. She opened the trunk to reveal a pale dead body of a tall man, kept inside a bag. Bree encountered the situation when the woman opened the bag so she felt happy she had a new case to work on. Bree left her stuff on the floor and helped the lady carry the body to the stretcher a nurse brought seconds after she yelled for help.
"Thank you, he's having a heart attack and I don't know what to do" said the blonde lady while holding the death body's hand. Austin appeared out of blue, with a stethoscope in hand to check the heartbeat. It was definetly dead and a smile showed up in his face. Bree slowly kicked him so he would realize and the smile faded.
"He's dead, I'm sorry Miss" said Austin. "I should probably take him in, since you brought him here. My friend here will accompain you while I do the report" Austin smiled at Bree and caressed her arm with sarcasm. The detective hated being alone with people that weren't Austin so he definetly did it on purpose.
"I would be pleased to join you, follow me. I'm Bree" Bree said with a big fake smile, while walking to her office. She unlocked the door and entered the workplace, made place for the woman to sit between some piles of paper and turned on some lights.
"I'm Lilith" said the lady while sitting down at the couch recently cleaned.
"How are you so quite and chill? Some people get terrified when they see a dead person" Bree tried to chat so it wouldn't be awkward but failed. "Did you know him?" finally asked.
"Yes, of course. He is my husband. We married last year." the lady showed Bree her ring and smiled. "Or at least he was" said with a bit of sadness.
"I'm very sorry for your loss, ma'am. Should I bring some coffee?" Bree was definetly the worst at grieving but she made her best.
"Sure, thank you" said the lady. Bree walked to the kitchen in silence when her phone rang a couple times, there were texts from Austin all in capital letters.
- BREE YOU NEED TO COME AND SEE THIS, THE BODY HAS A LIVER FULL OF GASOLINE -
Bree came back to where the blonde lady was sitting only to find her gone and the door wide open. She ran to the hospital to see Austin, he was standing in the morgue reading some papers. He approached her with the papers and showed the document to her. "She said he had a heart attack, gasolines don't provoque heart attacks"
"Yes, I know. She murdered him" said Bree softly while reading the report.
"What? What are you talking about? She was so sweet" said Austin flabbergasted.
"We talked about the victim, it was her husband and she showed me the ring. The ring itself was quite used and she said they were newly married. Also, her nails were stained with something black but I didn't suspect anything from it until you found out about the gasoline. But anyway, you really thought she was sweet?" Bree explained and laughed by the end of her sentence.
"Well, do you mind signing the report for the police so we can cover other cases? We have a poisoned grandpa by his roomate in the nursing home" said Austin while giggling.
"No" Bree replied. Austin looked at her in confusion. "I still don't know why she would do that. The grandpa can wait, I like this one better"
"You know the grandpa is dead, right? Like, he cannot wait because he's deceased" said Austin, trying to reach a point. Bree lifted her gaze in silence, staring at his eyes with a killer-stare and went back to reading the report. "Fine, I get it. The hot-blond murderer is funner than an old poisoned fatty"
