Ant and Dec arrived on location for the start of filming for their Saturday Night Takeaway annual serial to absolute chaos. The snowy December weather had caused a power cut and the producers were running around trying to get everything set up with generators and get everything in enough of a working order that they wouldn't just have to call off the day's filming and all go home again. They met briefly with the producers and director and went off to wait it out in their trailer. Thankfully the trailer was connected to a generator and had been pre-heated ready for their arrival.
The serial this year was a ridiculous plot uncovered by The Honoured that would see all of London's bridges blown up, starting with Tower Bridge, and then the others would blow up in succession after that. The key to saving all the bridges and the various parts of London that would get damaged was to find and disable the control panel and bombs at Tower Bridge to save them all and for various ridiculous reasons like other celebs being on holiday in the Maldives, it was all up to Ant and Dec to foil the plot and uncover the culprits. They were really looking forward to making this one as they got to mess about in the dark at Tower Bridge and the Tower of London and some other awesome locations around London and they really liked the script too.
The boys were finally given the go ahead to get ready for filming and changed into their costumes for that day's filming, chatting amiably. They went over to makeup, which was also well heated and eventually arrived back on set. It wasn't an ideal situation but they had agreed with the producers they had to get started on filming something so that they wouldn't get massively behind in the schedule.
Extra lighting had been set up in the large mansion house they were using to compensate for the lack of natural light and for not being able to use the house's lights. Long power cables had to be run outside of the rooms they were using so that the noise of the generators wouldn't spoil all the audio on the filming. Large diesel heaters had been brought in but they could only heat the room while they were on and had to be turned off as soon as filming started so the warmth they provided was lost almost immediately. Everyone was cold, a bit grumpy and moderately frustrated but they all did their best.
Their on-set makeup girl, Heather, gave their faces a final go over with powder before filming began and Dec noticed she was visibly shivering despite her layers and large jacket. Dec commented, "You're still freezing, babe!"
Heather smiled back thinly and ducked her head, "Yeah I am, I don't know why, I've got 5 layers on!"
Dec took a step closer and rubbed her arms to try and get her circulation going as he replied, "You must need another one."
She grimaced, "I haven't bought anything else with me that I can put on. I'll just have to put up with it."
Dec smiled sympathetically, saying, "Well, we can't have that, hang on a minute!"
He ran off in the direction of his nearby trailer as Ant watched their friendly exchange from nearby, where he was talking to someone else, having had his makeup touched up first. He turned to Heather with a raised eyebrow as Dec sped off and she looked back and shrugged.
Dec returned shortly afterwards with his blue crew neck sweatshirt and gave it to her, explaining, "Here, hopefully this'll help with the cold enough you won't be shivering anymore."
She shrugged off her big jacket and thanked him profusely as she quickly put on his sweatshirt, which was only a tiny bit big on her, over her other layers and then put on her jacket again.
Ant again watched this from nearby and as Dec smiled at her and moved over to him his raised eyebrows and questioning look now became directed at Dec. "What was that?"
