Against the World

Chapter 5

"Jo- Wake up!" screams a very familiar voice. I shoot upwards and shes there. "Angie!!" I scream from the top of my lungs. "Would you keep it down???" Asks Edward from about 10 feet away.

I look at our base camp... A fire is running, but nearly turning into just ashes. It is almost daylight, so we will have to pack up soon.. We only have-

"How much time do we have left??" I ask in a panicked voice. "2.... 2 hours..." Edward. responds and turns to face away from me. I jump up as does Angie.

"We have 2 hours left and you wanna waste it on sleeping???" I scream at Edward. "Well I'm sorry Im so tired of carrying you around, running from soldiers, and finding Angie!" He spits away at me.

Guilt... I feel guilt... That must have all happened while I was out... I barelly remember a thing..

"Soldiers...?" I ask worriedly. "They were armed. I hid you in some bushes, and looked out for you. They were looking for survivors of the so called crash..." He responds.

"Whatever, lets just pack up and find this stupid Facility." Angie breaks the moment. Edward growls, but stands. We pack up and in about 10 minutes our fire is out and we are walking South, where Angie says she's seen people come in and out of a small cave.

"What if we dont find it?" I ask. "This is where it gets interesting, Jo. Along with trackers they also put small chips into us. When the time is up, and were not there, the chips will be activated. They blow us up from the inside out." Eric explains.

The whole thing gives me the creeps. How do people come up with such things...?

We continue walking when suddenly I hear a crunch of leaves. A body, A girl walks out onto the opening.

She is armed with a small knife, and she looks at Edward. "We... we dont want any trouble..." Angie tries to calm her.

"Neither do I... now where's the Facility?!?" Demands the girl. "Drop the knife and I'll tell you where..." Eric says.

The girl slowly begins to drop the knife. I look at Angie and she gives me a nod. Eric does the same.

I look at the knife, and control it to go up. It does, slashing itself into the girl's neck. She gives a loud cry.

Angie focuses on her, and the girl stops screaming. The girl grabs the knife, still in the power of Angie, and pulls it out.

She stabs herself in the face a few times, still not screaming. She falls, and no movement comes from her.

From the corner of my eye I get a small movement from the top of a tree.

A camera is pushing itself back to its normal position, and it shuts off.. They saw us.... They saw our act of murder.

Eric walk up to the body and points its hands out to it. Fire explodes from his hand, and the body begins to burn. I turn it for him to cook on the other side, still shocked to finally see his power.

"And that ladies, is my power." He says in his accent, and we all laugh. I pull the body midair, and with all my strength I throw it into the air. It goes off flying.

"Youre near..." Whispers a voice in my head. I freeze from the sudden event, but I resond quickly. "Let's go.. we're near." Is all I say to Angie and Edward.

How crazy would I sound telling them that someone from the Facility is coming into my head and telling me things?

"We have about 5 minutes left..." Edward says. "Run." is all I say. We dash through the forest, time running out.

"2 Minutes!" screams Angie into my mind. By the look of Edwards face she is also connecting to him.

We come out into an opening, and see 2 double doors. "Thats it." Angie points out. Edward aims his hands towards the doors as we walk slowly towards them. "1 minute." says the voice in my head.

I dash forward, and so do the others. I push through the door, and see a staircase. "20 seconds." says the voice. I float myself and the others to the floor quickly.

"5, 4" Another set of doors. "3, 2." Another set, and finally... "1." The doors close behind us with a pound, and a set of booms go off from the outside. The place shakes, and all I can think of is that were here.
