Many people gathered before me. My eyes darted side to side, scanning the place; a huge ballroom stood before me, filled with more guests than I could count. "Prince Yuichiro! Shall we dance?" A sweet feminine voice sounded to my right. It was my fiancé Shinoa. I forced a smile and looked into her eyes. She was the definition of perfection. There were no obvious imperfections on her, she had a petite figure along with gorgeous lilac hair pinned up at the back of her head. I extended my hand, "Yes, your Royal Highness." Shinoa let out an embarrassed giggle.
Shinoa placed her hand on my shoulder, my hand on her back. We immediately fell in sync with the rhythm of the music. Our eyes locked for a moment. I noticed a light blush appearing on her face before she bowed her head in embarrassment. I do not love her but our marriage was arranged and planned the day we were born. Shinoa's hot breath hit my ear, "You sure know how to be romantic, Yuichiro." She whispered before her lips touched my cheek. Shinoa and I broke apart from each other's embraces. I could see Shinoa's face turn red, "thank you for the dance" I smiled in response before she shuffled away, melting in with the crowd.
I sauntered away from the ballroom. Peacefully, I strolled towards my bedroom and opened my balcony door, the cool breeze immediately hit my face. I put my weight on the balcony parapet staring off to the quiet town that stood before me. "Why are you not in the ballroom?" I turned to see Shinya, a father-like figure. He seemed slightly angered. I just shrugged and turned away, I was not happy with him and my father. "I just wanted some fresh air. Besides, it's late so I'm tired." Shinya turned my head towards him and placed his thumb on my face wiping it, "You have lipstick on your cheek." I rolled my eyes. "Can you stop? You're not my dad or mom and I'm not planning on seeing anyone else tonight so it doesn't matter."
"You haven't said your farewells to your fiancé yet."
"I don't need to."
"It wouldn't be polite to stay without saying goodbye since her family is just about to leave. Your wedding is in three weeks and you still haven't had a full conversation with her parents yet." My lips parted. Three weeks? No way I can't do that! I knew it was coming soon but hearing about it made my stomach turn. "I do not love her! I don't wanna marry her this is so stupid you all give me no freedom whatsoever!" I raised my voice. Shinya sighed, "sad, isn't it? But it is your job after the Hyakuya and Hiragi kingdoms have had a tense relationship with each other for a while now it's your job as the prince and future king of the Hyakuya to settle things with this marriage." I swallowed and held my breath. "I'll be out shortly." Shinya smiled, "Great to hear!" He strolled away.
I could feel my hands start to tremble as my mind began to race. My gaze darted towards the tree that stood beside my balcony. Without thinking, I stood on the railing gripping the branch for support. I climbed my way down and froze. What am I doing? Why did I climb down here in the first place? My mind darted back to the wedding and that thought triggered my body to move without thinking my legs took off on their own. Wait, why am I running? I ran down the hill my castle stood on taking off towards the town that sat with the castle behind the walls protected by guards. Shit.
Yuichiro Hyakuya, the runaway prince is that what I would be known as now? My body finally listened to me as it stopped at the gate out of breath and in deep confusion, there were no guards. Sounds of chuckling emitted from the outside of the gate. I peaked around the gate to find the guards, flat-out drunk, sitting together on the ground seeming to have the night of their lives. What a joke anyone could get past them! I paused and inhaled and my body just took off again in another sprint.
Pain swept through my legs and lungs. Arms swinging, I ran until I was surrounded by forest and could only see the lights emitting from the kingdom. This was all too convenient; the security loosened around the town and tightened inside the castle due to all the royal families attending the ball; they wanted their safety to be ensured in case of emergency. I brought myself down to my knees as I inhaled and exhaled harshly. It wouldn't be long until someone noticed my disappearance. I had to keep going, from what I knew my land was neighbors to a good amount of other kingdoms so if I kept going I could eventually find a nearby town or kingdom. "God, I'm an ignorant person" I sighed to myself, but I couldn't turn back now I didn't want to so I kept going. I had no plans and I hadn't changed from my ball attire but that didn't matter not at this very moment. My lips curved into a grin that soon evolved into a burst of laughter "Hah! I just did the craziest thing in my life." The cool breeze blew through my silky black hair as I inhaled the smell of the air and pine trees surrounding me. Hello, freedom..

Hello everyone! This is my first time writing so please leave any constructive criticism you have in the comments! If you see any spelling mistakes please correct me. In this AU demons and vampires do not exist meaning Mika is indeed not a vampire. Also Just in case you didn't know there are no phones, cars, planes, computers!I hope you will enjoy this story! I have a lot planned for it and if you are wondering Yuu and Mika will meet very soon maybe In a few chapters or so. This fanfic is a slow burner meaning it will take time before they actually discover their feelings for each other and get all lovey dovey and touchy with each other. - please stick around because I intend to add a lot of things that I wish was added in the MikaYuu fanfics I read. Thank you for reading my book and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series! - Goodbye.
