"Lawliet, stop, You can't leave me here," I begged.

It wasn't fair. I couldn't even run after him. He turned back to me, still standing halfway down the corridor. His ravishing eyes were watery.

"I... I have no choice, Destiny."

Tears were spilling from my eyes and falling down my face as he walked away from me. He knew I couldn't come after him because of the pain. Little Mello slightly squeezed my hand, gently pulling at me.

"Nurse Candy said you aren't supposed to be up," The little boy whined.

But little Mello didn't understand the picture in front of him. The love of my life was leaving me behind.

-SEVEN YEARS LATER-

I sat in the cold conference room where many people had assembled. It was an ICPO conference between multiple nations about the Kira murder cases. Men from around the world argued and pointed fingers like children telling on each other.
Prisoners were dying from heart attacks left and right, and I was stuck in an oversized dark room with yelling man-children. I sighed and fidgeted with my fingers, waiting for something to actually happen. I looked over to Chief Yagami, who seemed to be just as frustrated as I was.

"Do you need any more coffee, Chief Yagami? I was going to grab some more for myself," I stated, standing from my chair.

"No, thank you, Destiny. I believe it would only contribute to my headache."

The man gave a small sigh before returning to the papers in front of him. Suddenly, an American man's words captured my attention.

"If that's the case, then we have no choice other than to bring in L."

My eyes broadened, as chills traveled down my spine. The room filled with whispering. Then, I heard Matsuda exchanging words with Chief Yagami.

"Uh, chief, what's this L they're talking about?"

Lawliet...

"Right," Chief Yagami began, "I forgot this is your first time at this conference..."

The chief went on to define the anonymous detective to Matsuda.

Well, not so anonymous to me.

Men began debating again until a man in a black trench coat and hat walked out in front of the projection screen at the front of the room. The darkness of the room even further concealed his identity; that was until I heard his voice...

"Gentleman, L has already begun his investigation into these incidents..."

Could it be?
The man who raised me?

My body continued trembling as I tried to contain my distress in front of my colleagues. Watari was the one who raised me and Lawliet. I couldn't mistake the sound of the man's gruff voice.

"Please be silent," he persisted, "L would like to address the delegates."

The room somehow grew darker, and a giant letter L was projected on the massive screen. A disguised voice introduced itself through the speakers. It was all too real. My mind went blank until...

"...Also, I'll require additional cooperation from Japan's National Police Agency..."

The coffee cup slipped from my hand and onto the floor. Aizawa looked over at me, seemingly confused.
