     "Deallisasia! You're gonna be late!"

Deallisasia ran downstairs, almost tripping over herself. She stopped before her mother and looked up at her angry face.

"Come on! You don't want to keep Storm waiting, do you?" Avia fixed her scarf and grabbed her ten-year-old's hand, dragging her along. They went out the door together, entering into the windy cobbled street. The two of them made their way to the house two houses down. Deallisasia ran to knock on the door.

"STORM! I'M HERE!" Dealliasia yelled. Avia shushed her.

The door unlocked. Storm opened the door, his blonde hair moving in the wind. He was pale and had green eyes. Storm was about the same height as Deallisasia.  They were the same age as well. He smiled.

"Come in! My mom's making vapiti," he welcomed. Deallisasia walked in and waved goodbye to her mother. The door closed behind her.

"Deallisasia! I've been waiting for you," Storm's mother bent down to hug her. "You wanna help me and Storm? I'm just getting started." Deallisaisa nodded. Making their way to the kitchen, she saw all the ingredients on the counter.

'Chicken, acreagora, eshe kava, green onions, ginger. Just how I like it,' she thought to herself.

"Come. Do you know what to do? I'm sure your mother has made this before," Vena asked. Deallisasia nodded.

"Yes! She makes it all the time and I looooove it. Can we make íchiidnaa after?" Deallisasia asked eagerly. Vena laughed and ruffled Deallisasia's curly brown hair.

"Of course. Well, let's get started!" Storm and Deallisasia cheered and started to get to work.

Sitting on the cobblestone road outside the house, a small, black-haired, pale kid with violet eyes sat on the ground. He was crying. He looked up at the house with longing in his eyes.

"Why don't they ever invite me, like I'm worthless or something? I'm not. You guys will see soon enough. I'm going to be the best gadzíai you guys have ever seen." Storm stood up and looked to the sunny sky. He took in the elements around him; the sounds of the townspeople, the smell of fresh spiced bread, the feeling of the sun on his face, the shining water in the fountain in front of him.

He took in these elements and decided for himself.

He will prove himself to be capable.
