I never thought this would be happening. The day I have to say goodbye. When I thought about my future, I never thought being separated by my parents would be happening in the near future. Yet, here we are... Being driven to the foster care center.
"Bella, honey, why don't you eat something?" That is my lovely new "friend" Sally, who is in charge of me throughout this mess. Some may say to be grateful that I have someone and I am... But all I can think about when I talk to Sally is my mom. Anytime we talk, or even when I look at her... It's every tiny detail of her that reminds me of mum. At least Sally isn't a druggie who isn't even worth her own daughter. As of my dad... That's one hell of a story to tell. Long story short, my dad knocked up my mom in high school and my mom dropped out. She missed out on college so she could raise me and my dad made something of himself owning his own construction company. All was going well... I'm my mind, we were the picture perfect family that everyone wanted to hang out with and become. It wasn't until eight years ago... My dad got disabled. And if course, he went and got surgery... To which he was feeling all better until we found out he was misusing the painkillers. That was the day my world started spiraling. We tried helping him but it was too late. He overdosed 8 months later and it was just me and my mom. My mom tried handling it the best she could, working two day jobs and a night job as much as she could. I was handed from one babysitter to another until one day, we couldn't afford them so my mom made the decision I was old enough to just take care of myself while she was out. At first, I was all excited.... You know, being ten years old, with no one home with you and complete freedom? I was living the best life! But eventually, we got evicted from our apartment and my mom... Well, she lost it. Starting skipping work to go to the bar and drink away her memories, her pains. One thing lead to another and my mom was jobless and she started doing drugs. I managed by myself, learning very quickly that if I didn't become the nature and responsible one, no one would. I became a mom to my own self and I did all the chores and although it was rough, we made due for about four and a half years, until I came home one day to find my mom passed out. I assumed she drank too much and had a massive hangover. Due to these conclusions and the fact that she is usually passed out on the couch a lot, I didn't think much of it but hours passed by and she hasn't moved. Not thinking of the consequences of how much it would tear my family apart, I did the only thing I knew to do and called for help. Not even ten minutes later, I was watching my mom being resuscitated and taken away. I stayed at my aunt's for the couple days my mom was getting back to normal until I found out she could come home. I was ecstatic! Only when I met her back home, a women was waiting for me. She was none other than, Sally. I had 24 hours to pack and say goodbye because my mom was going to a rehab center for drugs and alcohol.
So here we are, twenty six hours later, driving to the boring city of Philadelphia to a foster care home.
"Honey, you really should eat."
I roll my eyes. " Sally, the last thing I wanna do is eat. Are we almost there? " I couldn't stand another minute of being trapped in this car. Thank God, she got a phone call. I was so bored in this car and of her boring conversations. I
"Darling, that was for you. We found you a home. someone wants to meet you and God forbid she likes you, your gonna be adopted by this older lady. Her name is Kathy. Be nice, young lady because this could be your first and last chance at getting out of this place."
" Oh my God! Seriously? I didn't even get there and I might not even have to step foot into it?
