Fake engagement

"Brother Nie!" wailed Wei Wuxian and plopped down ungracefully onto the sitting cushion on the other side of the table from Nie Huisang.

"I am at my wits end now! Lan Zhan just would not spend even a second in the same room alone with me, he always brings a chaperone. Even to the punishment sessions, could you believe it? It is like I am being supervised by two people. So unfair! How am I supposed to confess to him when there is always someone around?

He does not as much as greet me when he is alone, he only walks away quickly. So much for running being forbidden in the Cloud Recesses. I really do not know what to do anymore. At this rate, I really would have to confess to him in front of another Gusu Lan sect disciple... I am not sure I would be able to bear the shame if Lan Zhan would say he was not interested. Brother Nie! Can you not think of anything? I am in a dear need of help here. I am begging you!"

Wei Wuxian was now laying with his upper torso on the table, looking sideways at Nie Huisang. He was doing begging puppy eyes to add to the effect. He was overplaying, they both knew it, but he really was getting desperate by now. He could not believe all his attempts at finding himself alone with the second young master of the Gusu Lan sect had failed this miserably. He had been trying for over a month now and he was not getting anywhere closer than on the first day. Lan Zhan was the ever so cold jade statue the rumours described him as.

Being the second most sought after Alpha of their generation, he surely had already gotten many offers and confessions. That was to be expected. Wei Wuxian came into this mentally prepared.

When he had first saw the man, he immediately felt they were fated to be with each other. He had been convinced that Lan Zhan had felt it too and that he had was only trying to preserve his reputation of the unattainable Second Jade. But as days went by, Wei Wuxian had understood that the other was probably not feeling the same attraction he was. And so he had decided to take matters in his own hands and confess.

Even if it was unheard of that an Omega would seek after an Alpha, he had no choice by now. Hopefully he would not be judged too harshly by others, after all, he had been only following the Yunmeng Jiang sect motto 'To attempt the impossible'. And he had been determined to succeed.

However, meeting the second young master of the Gusu Lan sect alone had already proven to be a challenge, not even talking about having enough time to actually confess to him. Every single time he had tried to ambush Lan Zhan, he had failed miserably. Just as few minutes ago, the Second Jade did not even look at him upon hearing his greeting and instead started walking faster and disappeared in the nearest building.

If Wei Wuxian was not getting anywhere with his current strategy, he hoped his friend would be able to suggest something new. Although he was getting quite desperate, he was not about to give up just yet. It was not in his nature to let himself by dejected with only this little failure.

He looked at Nie Huisang again, begging him for help.

Nie Huisang had been watching Wei Wuxian's attempts all this while and he knew the Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple was not getting anywhere. He had already been thinking about how he could help him but as of now, he came up with only one feasible plan. However, this plan was not a great one, it was actually very risky and could get both of them some serious scolding if anyone learned about it.

Looking at his friend who was clearly at the end of his rope, he had to actually pity him. He was an Omega himself but he had never before experienced finding anyone special, his fated Alpha how Wei Wuxian had called it. Even if the Yunmeng Jiang sect disciple had described in many words how frustrating it was to be so close to the object of the attraction but not being able to seize him for himself, Nie Huisang could not really understand the feeling himself.
