After work was always a blessing and a curse.
The streets of Mastafu lit up, patrons walking across eager to get to their destination. Some were dressed ready to party the night away. Others were like you, dressed in work attired with somber eyes as they trudged their way home. The neverending stream of cars honked their horns impatiently, the sounds echoing out to the large skyscrapers and buildings.
Your feet cursed at you as you felt the blisters beginning to bloom. Resisting the urge to massage your throbbing foot, your focus turned towards a family mart. Your stomach rumbled as you placed your hand on it to try to ease its whines. You managed to eat your leftovers last night and there wasn't any produce to cook something decent with. They always had good pork buns and soba over here anyway.
As you walked—feet clacking on the ground—the familiar chime alerted attendees to your arrival. You immediately darted towards the hot-food section, feeling the warmth from the ovens. You managed to grab a couple of steamy pork buns, the smell already making you salivate. It smelt divine. As you closed the hot food area, you heard whispering festering behind you.
"I think that's them. It has to be! Katsuki, is that them?!" a voice blurted out. Hearing another voice shush the whisperer and another cursing him out, you turned your form around revealing Bakugou and two unfamiliar males.
Bakugou seemed as stiff as ever, maroon eyes blown wide as his lip quivered. He clearly wasn't expecting to run into you here of all places. He must have gotten off of work like you seeing as he was still in his suit. The shortest male's amber eyes lit up. He was blond with an odd lightning stripe in his bangs, hair fashioned in a low ponytail. He walked over to you, a bright smile plastered wide on his face.
"So you're the infamous neighbor of ours! You are such a badass! Oh my god, Katsuki couldn't stop talking about you, but he didn't mention how cute you were!" he winked. Bakugou scoffed as the other male sighed loudly, clearly not impressed with his friend.
"I'm Denki Kaminari! I'm the one that usually runs the rocking parties you hear every weekend! This poor boy needs the thrill of it!" he pouted. You forced a smile, shocked by the amount of high energy he still has. The ravenette walked forward, resting his arm on Kaminari's back. His dark eyes seemed kind albeit with a mischievous large smile on his face.
"I'm Hanta Sero. On behalf of everyone living over there, I'm sorry for how loud we are. Oftentimes we get wrapped up in the moment and don't think," Sero apologized, rubbing the back of his short hair. Out of everyone here, Sero seemed to have the most sense in your opinion.
"How about to make up for it, you come to our party this weekend? Who knows, if you enjoy it, you might end up attending the rest of them," Sero suggested. Bakugou scoffed once more, arms crossed glaring at you and Sero.
"What the hell? No! You fucking kidding me," Bakugou interjected. You clicked your tongue, eyebrows slowly furrowing hearing the ash-blond express his opinion on the matter.
"They wouldn't have fun. They'd be outcasted. It's a fucking dumb plan, Hanta," Bakugou finished.
Who does he think he is? He doesn't even know you?
It's as though a match had been lit under you, hearing Bakugou's disdain of you attending one of their parties. Your eyes lit up with determination and spite; that rude asshole would get what's coming to him.
"Yeah! I'd love to come! See what all the hype is about," you said, eyes still focused on Bakugou. Bakugou furrowed his eyebrows more, frown being very pronounced on his features as Kaminari shot an arm up in excitement, cheering.
"Woohoo! A baddie is coming to the party," he yelped. Sero massaged his brow muttering for him to be quieter in the convenience store. There were sure to be patrons looking at the group oddly from how loud they were being.
"It's a themed party too! Make sure you dress up in your favorite decade-inspired outfit! There's a lot of second-hand shops nearby if you need places to shop at, since I know you're still fairly new to the area," Kaminari exclaimed.
"If you're done shopping we can walk together. We are going to the same place after all," Sero suggested. Bakugou remained quiet, still grumbling to himself. You couldn't help but sigh but flashed a small smile to Sero. At least he and Kaminari were polite.
"Yeah, that's fine with me," you replied. All of you checked out fairly quickly, walking out of the family mart together. It's funny, you were expecting to come into that establishment to walk out with so many people.
As awkward as it was, you and Bakugou walked side-by-side not saying a word with one another. Things were still fairly awkward between you two. It didn't help what also transpired earlier in the mart.
"Hey, you never told us your name!" Kaminari remembered. You cursed internally for not realizing.
"I'm sorry about that! It's (Y/n)! Nice to formally meet you two," you greeted. Kaminari giggled, his cheeks bloomed with light pink.
"That's a pretty name—"
"Save it, fuck boy!" Bakugou sneered. Kaminari's eyes darted down, ashamed at his nickname.
"Damn..." he muttered. Sero laughed trying to ease the tension between them. Honestly, this was a pretty interesting dynamic. The hothead, the flirt, the down-to-earth—you wondered how there weren't screams and cries coming from the other side of your wall daily.
"Oh at the party you'll also meet our last roommate, Ejirou Kirishima. He is working a late shift at the gym which is why he wasn't with us. He's a physical therapist over there! Speaking of which, where do you work at, (Y/n)" Sero asked.
"I work at Todoroki Enterprises, their marketing department. That's why I had to move over here," you stated. Kaminari started cracking up loudly as Sero's mouth morphed into an o-shape. Bakugou clicked his tongue before looking over at you.
"...Todoroki Enterprises, accounting department," Bakugou muttered. Your heart dropped, stomach-churning at this news. Your rude neighbor just happened to be your coworker as well.
You stood out on your balcony as you usually did at night, soaking in the fresh air of the night. As always, that time was interrupted by Bakugou as he slammed his door shut, looking over at you.
"Why the hell did you decide to come to the party this weekend? You're going to be uncomfortable and not have any fucking fun," he demanded out. You sighed, really not wanting to put much effort in arguing with him. You just found out you were coworkers after all. You gazed indifferently at Bakugou, hand resting on your cheek.
"How do you know, Bakugou? Honestly," you asked out. Bakugou pauses as if he's frozen in time, not sure how to answer next.
"Do you know me at all? So how could you know, Bakugou," you asked, eyes half-lidded and uninterested. Bakugou's cheeks turn red in embarrassment as he shuts his eyes tight. He quickly marches over to his door, roughly grabbing the doorknob.
"I..fuck! I don't have to explain myself to you! Goodnight!" he yelled out, walking into his apartment and closing the door with might. As the door slammed, you couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. Your eyes looked back up observing the stars high above the night sky.
"Goodnight, hothead..."
