Erenburg coliseum. Keith searched up the name last night but he couldn't find anything online apart from a single article that talked about historical sights. The colosseum was mentioned there but there wasn't much information about its history.
It only said that there was a fire in the colosseum during a show and that killed off many people who couldn't escape in time. The coliseum was closed after that.
The next morning, Keith left right after breakfast. He felt like a stranger in that house, making him not want to stay there for long.
He met Kevin at the gate. The oldest child of the family was even older than Keith. It was obvious that the affair was going on even before the divorce. Keith didn't believe in the bullshit that he was Madam Derrick's child from the previous marriage. He looked too similar to his father.
"Keith," He nodded at him. Keith nodded back. That was all the interaction he wanted with Kevin. The latter probably felt the same way. He looked reluctant when he was talking to Keith.
"I've heard you are on good terms with that girl from the Beckley Family?"
Keith raised an eyebrow. They've talked only once. When did they become on good terms? He didn't speak and let Kevin continue.
"Our family doesn't like the Beckleys, you shouldn't talk to her."
Keith looked away, smiling. His smile startled Kevin.
"I'm not a part of your family. Don't mistake me for one."
Kevin couldn't let Keith walk away just like that, "You have the surname Derrick. You will always be a part of the Derrick family. Don't be ungrateful for what you have." There was something else hidden in his words as he glared at Keith.
Keith looked back at him. His face uncaring. "You think too highly of this family."
He walked away for real this time. He wasn't in a good mood after encountering Kevin. He always reminded him that his father had betrayed his mother. Their marriage was nothing but a farce. That he was just keeping his surname intact because his mother still had hidden feelings for Gregory Derrick. That he felt ashamed of having such a father.
It was a Saturday. The sky was half cloudy. The wind was cool.
He saw Riley once again. She hadn't worn her rain coat today. Her hair was let down and it reached her waist. She was standing beside the bus stop. The Beckleys lived on the other side of the town, away from the public's eye.
"Hey." Keith walked up to her but Riley gave him a glance and walked away. Keith's hand in mid-air froze. He was shunned? How could that be?
Keith followed her, but Riley was determined to avoid him. She turned a corner and then another, but Keith was still at her tail.
She stopped beside the church and looked back, annoyed.
