I was thrown out of my girlfriends house, tears streaming down my face as she shouted profanity's at me. I didn't understand why the fight even began but i just started walking around aimlessly. it was midnight so I wasn't expecting to see anyone at the park. I walked around the pond letting out a sigh and a small sob. I then turn around to a man in a green hoodie approaching me, I tried to wipe my face clean of any tears then turned around. he just looked at me. I looked away embarrassed that
his first impression of me was me crying about a girl that's already cheated on me before. I didn't even really like her to begin with I honestly don't know why i'm still with her. he looked over me as if to review my body for any physical injuries. "you're- crying." he stated the obvious. "yea- i'm- im sorry I didn't know people were going to be here I just-" he cut me off "I come here for walks sometimes late at night. I dont- really see many people here though." I wiped my face again, sniffled, and sat down on the bench, it was a beautiful night and the stars were gleaming. the man in the green hoodie sit down next to me. "friends call me dream by the way." he said looking at the moon and the stars which painted a perfect picture of a beautiful night. I sniffled again and balled the sleeves of my black sweatshirt In my hands and wiped my face clear, pulling my knees up to my chest "george..." I tried to make my sniffles go away as I talked. "you know, I never really get to see the stars at night, always something in the way no matter it be my ceiling or my own stupid tasks I have to do like work." he laid himself down on the ground and looked up at the stars, resting his arms on his chest. I joined him laying the opposite way like in all the romantic films i'd seen on television. It really was a beautiful view. it was a clearing In the middle of a woods, only a circle of the sky visible among the giant wooded area. the stars were bright and the moon a crescent. we laid there for about 10 minutes until dream sat up, I followed suit. he pulled down his hood and his green eyes sparkled at me. "tell me about yourself George" I laughed. "wait really?" he nodded at me. "yea I wanna get to know the great life of the cry baby, why is he crying, the world may never know." I smiled and looked at my hands as I picked at my nails. "it's- it's nothing" he shot me a look. "I may be a complete stranger but that doesn't mean i'm stupid. here, i'll tell you why i'm here on this very night if you do." I looked back up at him briefly then looked back down, pushing my hair back. "me and my bestfriend Sapnap and his girlfriend were chilling, right?" I nodded as a response. "then they started making out, they practically tried to have sex in front of my face. I got sick of it and walked here, a place I thought was empty after 9 pm let alone almost 1:30." I looked up at him keeping my eyes up this time. "I uh- I got into a fight with my girlfriend." his expression didn't change. "then what. I-I mean why are you here." I sighed "she uh- she kicked me out and yelled at me" he smiled at me. "well now you're here" he said, promptly getting up. I followed him again, trying to look like a normal person. as I stared into his sparkling green eyes the tension grew tighter, I felt my body sway closer to him instinctively. As I got closer I felt my phone buzz, then again. I was getting a call that snapped me out of the staring at him. he watched as I turned around and took the phone call. "george..." I heard my girlfriends voice say with the same fake regret she always puts on after fights. her voice haunts my mind and I tensed up after hearing it. dream busied himself on his phone. "what do you want" I felt another wave of tears coming on, I tried to blink profusely to rid them from my eyes. "I- i'm so sorry" I heard her fake cry into the microphone, I hated that cry, I hated everything about her. "you know what? i'm done, I can't fucking do this anymore" I heard her go silent for a moment. "are you- breaking up with me?" I felt a tear slide down my face, she was 4 years of my life I could never get back. "yes" I heard that angry wind up she always did. I just hung up the phone, that was for later me to handle. I turned back, my face red and teary again. "wow." he puffed his cheeks exhaling. I just looked at him "I- should get going" his smile he had faded slightly. I handed him a slip of paper walking away letting the tears fall down my face. "goodbye my midnight rose." he spoke, I didn't look back. I didn't know what I was feeling, all I know is I don't wanna cry anymore. I walked into my house, locked the door, and collapsed onto my bed sobbing. then I heard a ping, a message. dream, I smiled.
