The one that got away

       
      It was a nice spring evening in Seoul. The boys decided to take a short stroll to the park where they'd first met. Summer was near, so they wanted to cherish the cool breeze before it slipped away.

      Taehyun and Beomgyu walked side by side their fingers interlocked. They were cherishing each step they took together. The cool breeze passed them, messing up their hair.

      "This feels so nice, right Taehyun?" asked the brown haired boy, while his eyes sparked due to the setting sun.

      "Yeah, it really does Beomgyu" the red head replied lightly squeezing Beomgyu's hand.
 
      The pair continued walking along the park for a while, enjoying the scent of flowers, that bloomed along the side of the park, fill their lungs.

      The pair made a pit stop at the convenience store, near their studio apartment, to pick up some ice cream for themselves.

      Taehyun got mint chocolate while Beomgyu got strawberry.

      Beomgyu was never a big fan of mint chocolate, but he was slowly getting accustomed to it thanks to his boyfriend, who got no other flavor than mint chocolate.

      They walked up to the cash register and left after paying for their ice creams.

      They interlocked their fingers once again, enjoying the comforting silence as they walked back to their apartment.

      Beomgyu fiddled for the keys that were located in his pocket, while still holding taehyun's hand. Finally, he took them out and unlocked the door leading to their comfy home.

      "Remember when we got tattoos at 18, hyun?"
"Yeah, of course I remember, how could I ever forget, gyu?" Taehyun replied, lifting up his left wrist to show his small moon tattoo. Beomgyu copied his actions and lifted up his right wrist to expose his small sun tattoo.

        "You're the sun to my moon, Gyu" Taehyun stated while looking into his lovers eyes. He started to soflty caress Beomgyu's cheeks, while they stood there in their own tiny world, without a care in the world.

        "I love you, Taehyun, forever and always"        "I love you too Beomgyu, forever and always" Taehyun replied while slowly closing the gap between them. The kiss was filled with emotions that could never be shown with words.

        His lovers lips still tasted like the cherry chapstick he had grown accustomed to. He had asked Beomgyu if he had any thoughts of buying a other flavor other than cherry, but his boyfriend was stubborn and stuck to classic cherry.

       Taehyun broke the kiss, due to the lack of air. He smiled at his boyfriend and engulfed him into a hug. Beomgyu didn't smell like vanilla and cinnamon anymore, to Taehyun, Beomgyu smelled like home, a scent that could comfort him in an instant when he wasn't feeling his best.

       "Hyun, let's go eat our ice cream before it melts and turns into soup!" Beomgyu said smiling while pulling away from the hug to face his boyfriend.
      
       "Ok, let's go eat our ice cream" Taehyun replied smiling, while being dragged to the kitchen by his lover.

       They reached their kitchen island and grabbed their ice creams. Beomgyu ran around the counter to grab the couple spoons from the utensil drawer. The little run Beomgyu did brought a smile on Taehyuns face, revealing his dimples.

       They walked to their bedroom and got comfy on their bed. Taehyun switched the TV on, which was located in front of them, at the foot of the bed, and went on Netflix.

        "What do you want to watch gyu?" Taehyun asked.

        "Anything is fine" he mumbled getting comfortable by snuggling into Taehyuns chest. Taehyun chuckled at the sight. He missed this, since they barely got to see each other due to their busy schedules.

       Wrapping his arm around Beomgyu, Taehyun got comfortable and put on 'A walk to remember'. They both started consuming their ice creams, and every once in a while they'd feed each other their ice creams.

       By the end of the movie Beomgyu was a sobbing mess, while Taehyun comforted him by whispering sweet nothings into his ear. He hugged him and drew circles on his back while continuing to whisper sweet nothings into his ear.

      "Hey, hey, it's ok baby. It's just a movie" Taehyun said calming him down.

       "Ugh, why do they have to make these movies so sad!" Beomgyu complained while sniffling.

      Taehyun just chuckled while continuing to draw circles on Beomgyu's back. This was moment was so nice, and Taehyun didn't want it to end. He wished he could stay longer, but him and Beomgyu both knew that was impossible.

      The couple made eye contact, and Beomgyu already knew what was happening.

       "No, please don't go" beomgyu choked out between sobs. He couldn't do this anymore, it pained him to see Taehyun leave everytime.

       Pain and guilt hit Taehyun right in the chest. Obviously he didn't want to leave his boyfriend, but the red head had no choice.

"I'm sorry Gyu"
"In another life, I would be your boy and we'd keep all of our promises, right?"
"Yeah, it'll be us against the world bub"

        Taehyun said while leaning in to capture his lovers lips one last time. Oh, how he'd miss the feeling of his soft lips against his and taste of his cherry chapstick that he had now come to love.

         Taehyun regrets that day ever since it happened.

         The red head should've talked to Beomgyu about what he was going through. If not Beomgyu he could've talked to Yeonjun and Soobin, but he didn't and that was what ultimately led to his downfall. If he had just talked to one of them, then maybe, just maybe, he would've still been by Beomgyu's side everyday. He would've woke up to see his brunette lover sleeping peacefully next to him, his soft snores leaving his lips.

        Instead, he was here visiting his boyfriend in his dreams, which only lasted so long. Here's the catch though, this would be Taehyun's last time visiting Beomgyu in his dreams as it was finally time for him to move on.

        Taehyun pressed one last kiss on Beomgyu's lips whispering parting words to him.

"I love you, Beomgyu"
"I love you too, Taehyun"

       Taehyun left his lovers warm embrace and looked back at him one last time. He would never forget about Beomgyu, because Beomgyu would always be on his mind, even in the afterlife.

        As Taehyun started to disappear, Beomgyu awoke, tears streaming down his face. He clutched onto his deceased lovers hoodie, trying to take in his remaining scent as much as he could. His brown eyes started watering as he uttered this:

"I never planned that one day, I'd be losing you. You were the one that got away, Kang Taehyun"
