Chapter V

A/N: hi guys, i am currently on the way to the campground and was able to fix everything. not gonna lie I bullshit my way through most of this chapter because I haven't watched criminal minds in a few months so I don't remember a lot. There are some plotholes but shhh. It's fine. Anyway, enjoy!

Derek POV

"The kid??" I ask.

"Hunter Leon's kid. The affair kid."

"You think a sophomore in high school brutally murdered two women?" I say not very convinced.

"Yes, I do. Now shut up so I can talk to Garcia," she says before walking to a desk and using questions.

"That's a big leap, and sounds impossible," Emily says.

"Technically it's not completely impossible, " Reid says, "It would be difficult for a kid to kill them but if they trusted him it would make it much easier. The only thing is why would he do it?"

"Thank you, Garcia," Y/N says as she walks back to us.

"Okay, the kid's name is Jay Leon. Garcia pulled up his hospital records and it's true that Mrs. Zucker was the mother. Turns out she went on a four-month "work trip" two months before she had the kid. Jay was diagnosed with bipolar depression, anxiety, and ADHD when he was seven. He was violent as a child and reportedly killed three dogs and several forest creatures. He was put in a mental hospital for three months. during his freshman year, he tried to commit suicide several times."

"My God," Gideon says.

"That's horrible," Emily says

"Yeah, it is. There's more." Y/N says. "His father just reported that Jay has been missing for three days."

"Why the hell weren't we told about this?" Hotch says.

"I don't know."

As if on queue the police chief walks in

"Mr. Zucker wants to talk to one of you"

Just as i'm about to go Y/N walks forward, "I got it, start tracking the kid"

She's crazy, she has to be.

Y/N POV

Im crazy, but fuck it. I don't like going after kids so this makes me feel better. I follow the officer to the room we have Mr. Zucker in, he opens to door and i go inside and sit down.

"Mr. Zucker, you wanted to talk to someone?"

"Yes.."

He looks like he's about to shit himself.

"You look quite nervous there, what do you have to say?" I ask as i lean back in my chair.

"I- he- please-"

"We know it's Jay."

"Please don't hurt him! It's not his fault!"

He's freaked.

"We won't hurt him if he cooperates. Do you think he'll do that."

Why am i this calm?

"No- but please. he's just a kid."

"He may be a teenager but he still killed two women."

Mr. Zucker flinches.

"He didn't know what he was doing-"

"Mr. Zucker i'm going to be honest with you. When we get him- as long as he cooperates -he will not be harmed. The judge may try him as an adult because of the severity of the crime but because of his mental illnesses and history he might be able to plead insanity. Might."

I stand up and put my hands on the table before looking him in the eye.

"Do you understand?"

"Yes... please-" he looks down as if ashamed.

"Look at me."

Hesitantly he does, this guy has seen some shit.

"Do you know why Jay did it?"

"N-No"

"Mr.Zucker. The truth."

"Maybe-"

"Go ahead."

"He never liked his biological mother- no one knew they were related but me and Hunter. She barely treated him as her son. He hated that she would follow him but they never talked. I let Jay come over a lot when his mother was at work or out, that's also when Fiona would come. Chelsea and I were about to have a divorce and she knew about me and Fiona."

"And what about Mrs. Gray?"

"I started seeing Fiona a few months ago, it was just little dates, she was over a lot. I- I don't think Jay liked her much, Fiona tried to be like a mother to him and that made him snap, then he ran out of the house and he's been missing since."

"Do you have any idea where he could be?"

"I'm not sure.."

"Mr. Zucker please. Think."

"The school- i think he'd go to the school"

"Do you know which part?"

"The chem lab, he always said that was his favorite place"

"Alright. Sit tight."

I stand back up and leave the room going back to the others.

"He admitted it was the kid." I say.

"He did? Did he say if he helped or not??" Prentiss asks.

"No, but he said Jay never liked either of the women."

"Do we know where he is?"

"The high school chem lab. That's where Mr. Zucker thinks he is."

"It's not much but it's the best we got."

"Alright, we're going to take some police officers to the school, JJ and Prentiss go manage the media that are swarming outside and Reid stay with me here."

The girls nod and go outside while the rest of us get ready.

"No one is to shoot the boy unless absolutely necessary, even then make sure they are non fatal shots. We're going to try to talk him down, force is out last option. Do you understand?" Hotch tells us.

We all nod and head out in the vans. Everyone pretty quite on the way to the school, all of us thinking about the fact that a kid did all this brutality. Soon enough we pull into the parking lot and Hotch spilts us up. Hotch Gideon and two officers will go around the back while i Derek, Reid and one officer go through the front.

Standing in front of the doors it looks dark and empty but we can't take any chances.

"Ready?" i ask.

"Ready as i can be." Derek says.

Reid and the officer just nod.

"Let's do this."

I walk forward and open the door.
