**Okay, before you start reading this, I'm gonna warn you that it gets a bit gruesome towards the end. But if you've read Alosha, you'll understand that the dark fairies are very evil, and they are gruesome. Just letting you know ahead of time! And also, I'm not sure if I have to put this, but I will. Christopher Pike wrote the book Alosha and I'm not trying to cause Copyright infigment, I just wanted to tell another version of the story. Enjoy!(:**
Chapter One
Everyone thinks that all dark fairies are evil. In reality, though, I'm not evil. I don't want to be a dark fairy; it doesn't feel right to me. During Radrine's numerous torture sessions, I hide where she cannot see me so that I can try to learn to be evil. But watching the horror that is Radrine makes me feel even sadder that I am a dark fairy. I just can't be evil like her.
I didn't become a dark fairy by choice. If I didn't become one, the Shaktra would destroy me. I figured that if I gave in, that there would be a way for me to turn good again. There isn't. But now, I regret my decision. Radrine is constantly nagging me to become more evil. I've only killed one person in being a dark fairy, and I had to kill them for my own protection. They were about to kill me, so I decided that it was either them or me. Radrine rewarded me greatly for my first kill. Since it was my first kill, I was very inexperienced, so they were in great pain before it ended. When I got back to the hive, I cried all night about the fact that they were sort of tortured.
Radrine found me crying. Since she was our queen, I was in serious trouble because of my regret. I was hung upside-down on one of the many hooks in the torture room. I could not be released until I agreed to kill without regrets. I did not agree right away, though. I went through several hours of the seemingly endless torture and many black-outs before agreeing. When I finally agreed, I did it on one condition: I would not kill unless attacked first. Radrine said that we could work from there. After one more slash across my back, I was taken from the hook.
Right now, I'm hanging from the hook again. I was found trying to help someone escape a torture session while Radrine was taking a break. Once again, I have been slashed across the back, but this time, it was much more severe. Along with the slashes, I was slapped across the face and wings until I was aching from just breathing. Radrine finally decided I had had enough and cut the rope holding my feet to the hook, sending me falling to the floor, which thankfully, wasn't very far away. With a sickening crack, Radrine kicked me in the back before pulling my face close to hers and saying, "If you ever do that again, you can forget about hitting this floor alive, Taine. You're lucky I don't kill you right now. In fact, I think I do need a little practice. But I bet you want to die right now, don't you? Well then, I don't think I'm going to kill you yet. Minions! Get her back on the hook!"
"No!" I cried as her strongest minions bound my feet back to the hook. "Please, my queen! Do not torture me more! I will do anything you wish! I swear to you!"
"Anything, you say?" she said, with an evil grin on her face.
"Yes, my queen; anything."
"Fine then!" she said, cutting me free once again. This time, I didn't hit the floor. She grabbed me just as the rope was cut. "You will go capture the first hikers you see on this mountain and bring them back here for me to watch you kill. Go now, Taine, before I change my mind and tie you back to the hook." She then threw me against the wall, and I was on my way.
I finally got enough strength back to fly again, but chose to walk instead. As I neared a group of hikers, I could make out a man and a woman. Oh great. They had to come and hike tonight, I thought as I hid in a bush near them. The woman had long, dark brown waves that fell over her shoulders. The man had short, black hair that looked as though he had tried to make it spike up a little before he came, but failed. I decided quickly that it would be best to get the man first, so that he didn't attack me as I tried to knock out the woman. I went silently behind them and covered the man's mouth and dragged him into the bushes without even making a sound. I knocked his head against a rock, made sure he was unconscious, and then went for the woman, who was now looking around frantically and shouting, "John? John? Where are you? What's going on?" I grabbed her, covering her mouth, and also pulled her into the bushes. As I hit her head against the rock, I made sure to hit "John's" one more time to ensure that he wouldn't wake up before I got them back to the hive.
I probably should have asked Radrine if I could bring some of her minions with me, but I was too eager to get out of the torture room that I forgot to ask. I tried my best to not hurt the people too much as I took them back to the hive; I wanted them to be in "good condition" for Radrine. I went through the red door that led to the hive and found her waiting outside of the hive with three minions.
"Well done." She said, as two of the minions took the hikers from me and one pulled my arms behind my back like a prisoner. "Now to watch you kill them." She said evilly, as the minion holding my arms led me into the torture chamber.
The hikers were hung upside-down, like all others, on the hooks. Radrine stood beside me as I waited for them to wake up. The woman woke up first. She looked at me and then her gaze fell to Radrine. "Who are you?" she asked in a small voice. I could tell that she was terrified, and the fact that tears were starting to form in her eyes made Radrine crack a devilish grin.
"I am Radrine, queen of the dark fairies. You are in my torture chamber, thanks to my new rookie, Taine." She said, gesturing to me. "You see, Taine here made a deal with me. She is going to kill both of you to keep from getting herself tortured by me. Taine here has only killed one person before, and it was only for protection, so it doesn't count as a real kill. She doesn't have much experience killing, so you're pretty much practice. That is, unless she chooses to practice on your friend over there and make you watch," she explained. "Now then, I've told you about who we are, but now it's your turn."
"Well," she said, voice shaking, "my name is Lauren. I was hiking in the forest when she attacked me." She looked at me, "What was your name again? Was it Tank?"
"Taine." I corrected.
"Taine, right. That's a lovely name, by the way. Is it French?" she said.
"Stop kissing up, before I kill you now." Radrine snapped.
"I-I'm s-s-sorry." Lauren stammered. She was full out sobbing now. My expression started to show compassion, and Radrine slapped me across the face. Horrified, Lauren continued with her story. "That over there is my boyfriend, John." She said, gesturing to the still unconscious man hanging next to her with blood on the back of his head. I once again started to feel compassion and got thrown to the ground.
"YOU DO NOT FEEL COMPASSION FOR THESE PEOPLE. ONE MORE TIME AND YOU'LL BE THE ONE HANGING FROM THE CEILING. UNDERSTAND?" Radrine shouted. I nodded my head and scrambled back up to my feet. Lauren now had her eyes closed, and I could tell she was trying not to cry so that I would not feel sorry for her. John had woken up by this point and was talking to Lauren, trying to figure out what was going on. Lauren was telling him the whole story, still with her eyes closed, when Radrine whispered in my ear, "It's time. And if this kill happens too quickly, our deal is off. Make them beg for death."
"Yes, my queen." I said as I flew up to Lauren. "I'm sorry." I whispered to her so that Radrine could not hear. I slashed her across her back, making her cry out in pain as John struggled to get free. "Very good, Taine." said Radrine as I slashed Lauren's stomach, "You have learned your techniques from your numerous torture sessions that you have received." Lauren now had slashes all over her stomach and back, and was having difficulty breathing. I was about to end it when Radrine put her hand on my shoulder. "Remember what I said about making them beg for death." I nodded as I saw her fly back to where she was earlier. "I'm sorry." I whispered to Lauren again as I made a thin slash across her neck. The slash was not deep enough to kill her, but it would make her last few minutes pure agony.
I flew over to John, watching Radrine give me that evil grin she wears so often. I did not apologize to John before slashing him; he had not been as nice to me as Lauren had. I did the same thing to him as I did to Lauren, but I did not give him the thin slash across his neck. Instead, I cut deep into his chest. Just deep enough to pierce his heart, but not make him die immediately. I made the mistake of glancing back over at Lauren before flying back to Radrine. I saw the look of compassion in her eyes. Then, just as I was about to look away, her expression faded into one of nothing. She was dead.
Radrine congratulated me on my first real kill, and said that I needed to do that kind of thing every day. I politely said I'd rather not, which was a mistake. She looked at me with vengeance in her eyes and said, "I think that you need to feel what they just did. But don't get your hopes up, I know how to cut your neck so precisely that you won't die, but you'll be begging to."
