(A/N, when I say train, it's based more off of a monorail or trolley)
The door opened and I saw mom, playing with Hallie, and Kai watching a movie. I breathed a sigh of relief. Today must be Sunday, Mom only works from noon to five on Sundays.
"Oh good morning, good to see you've slept in."
I've missed that kind, peppy, voice. This is one of the only times I hear it. When she's spending time with us, and not having to care about work or the long ride to The Hub.
The Hub, a bustling city filled with important people. Almost everyone lives or works there.
I'd say that we're incredibly lucky to live a few minutes away from the train station, especially with the city being almost an hour away. Most of the kids at school say that she should work closer to home, but I don't think they realize that there are no shops or schools for miles. And we can't just up and move either, things don't work like that here.
"Alice are you even listening?" a sharp voice startled me out of my thoughts.
"Oh, sorry mom, what were you saying?" She sighed.
"I was saying, that you three are going into the city with me today, It'll be good for you to go see your friends."
"What friends?" I said, only half-joking.
"We're leaving in fifteen minutes, don't forget to grab the grocery list."
