A beginning of a story is a writing exercise to practice writing openings to original stories, fanfictions or any other written media as well as explore several different story concepts without the need to continue working on it.
It's also a technique to see if users are interested in an idea or not.
If enough good feedback is given to one of the oneshot chapters, there's a possibility that the chapter will become it's very own story.
