° • With every memory,
The days got though
Beside every thing known,
There was unrealised love • °"Tum gaogi?" Abir asked looking at Mishti with his famous evergreen smile that can make even the darkest shine bright.
It was late evening and stars were already above them. The sky was clear and breeze cold, giving their warm skin a strock of coldness. They were friends and almost like everyone they also met coincidentally at a cafe this evening and decided to talk for sometime. They didn't knew when their conversation went from their whereabouts to their favorites to songs to finally singing. He caught Mishti when she said she sing sometimes and now she was asked to sing a song for him.
"Main, Main kaise..." Mishti got surprised to hear his demand.
"Shh..." Abir cut her off as he placed his index finger on her lips. "Please mere liye bas ek baar." he said looking straight into her eyes. "Please Mishti" with that he removed his finger and stared at her with hopeful eyes.
She was asked by her love to sing a song, the love who couldn't be hers. She loved Abir but maybe fate wasn't in her favour. He was already committed to someone else, whom she believed he loved from the bottom of his heart.
What we believe can be an illusion too. Our reality and beliefs are not always meant to be on the same page. Maybe sometimes we are so engrossed in our own questions or miseries that we tend not to see the reality. We tend to term our mere illusions to be our reality which is not true.
Mishti believed he loved someone else, she believed he can't be her, she believed he can never love her back and so she moved away from him months back. What she didn't thought was that her reality can be different from what she believed it is. But she can't be blamed for that as well. What would you accept from a girl who months ago got to know that the man she loved so deeply was already committed to someone else.
Their eyes were still locked with each other, shining under the gaze of the several stars above them. Abir made a puppy face and how could she deny him after seeing him like this. She could not, she can never. She nodded with a small smile making his face lit up.
"Mere dil ne chun laiyaa ne, tere dil diyaan raahan" Mishti sang and moved back a little, her eyes still locked with his. "Tu jo mere naal tu rehta, turpe meriyaan saaha" she looked away from him. "Jeena mera.. hoye, hun hai tera, ki main karaan" she stepped ahead of him, her gaze down. "Tu kar aitbaar mera, main karoon intezar tera" she slowly lifted her gaze and saw him through the corner of her eyes in a way he couldn't know he was being seen. "Tu dil tui-yon jaan meri" she placed her palm above her heart, eyes closed, feeling her every heartbeats. "Main tenu samjhawan kee, na tere bina lagda jee" she looked infront of her.
"Ve changa nahion keeta beeba, Ve changa nahion keeta beeba" she started walking slowly. "Dil mera tod ke" Abir just followed her, watching her every action, not blinking even for a second. "Ve bada pachhtaiyaan akhaan, Ve bada pachhtaiyaan akhaan" she placed her hand on the railings as they reached the end of the viewpoint. "Naal tere jod ke" her eyes fixed somewhere at infinity.
"Tenu chadd ke kitthe jawan, tu mera parchhanvaa" Abir came a stood beside her. "Tere mukhde vich hi main taan, Rab nu apne pawaan" she continued, looking straight at him. "Meri duaa.. haaye" she turned and leaned back on the railings, looking everywhere but not him. "Sajda tera kardi sadaa" she moved towards the other end, his eyes fixed on her. "Tu sun iqraar mera, main karoon intezar tera" She stopped at the end, gazing at the lake infront of her. "Tu dil tui-yon jaan meri" He slowly walked towards her. "Main tainu samjhawan ki" he stopped just behind her. "Na tere bina lagda jee" she finished with her voice turning into a mere whisper but he heard it all, clearly.
A lone tear escaped Mishti's eye as soon as she finished which got unnoticed by Abir and for some unknown reason his eyes also welled up. There was a brief silence for some moments, both standing rooted to their spots, not moving even an inch.
When Mishti felt she had composed herself, she wiped her tear off and turned towards him. "Kaisa laga?" she asked with a smile.
Strange isn't it, one is the most awkward with the one they love one-sided. But she didn't felt much awkwardness with him, maybe because before being anything else he was her friend and will always be.
Abir was lost and her instant question made him come out of it. "Awesome" he smiled. "You sing so well Mishti." he raised his hand for an hi-fi and she gave into it. Their hands touched and both felt something strange like the air around them changed.
For the next few moments both again went silent.
"Ghar chale?" she asked when she felt she could no longer stand their silence.
"Haan chalte hai. Let me drop you as it's already dark." Abir said looking at her.
"Hmm" what else she can say.
The ride was a silent one, both didn't uttered a single word. Her eyes were fixed outside the window and his infront. They kept stealing few glances of each other from the corner of their eyes throughout the ride. He stopped the car near her apartment.
"Thank you Abir" Mishti said before getting off the car to which Abir gave a small nod with a tight lipped smile.
"Bye" they both bid audiu from each other and he left.
Mishti stood there, rooted to her spot seeing him leaving. Her vision was getting blurred with the pool of tears forming in her eyes. When his car disappeared into the darkness, she allowed the dam of hot tears to flow freely, making her skin burn.
"You can never be mine Abir." she whispered into the air looking towards the sky above.
Little did she knew he also felt something, something different with her today, which he had never felt before. He couldn't figure it out what it was. But whatever it was, it felt peaceful, calming to him.
Maybe it was the happiness of meeting his friend after a long time or maybe it was something completely different from that which can't be easily named or realised. Maybe he hadn't yet realised it. But it wouldn't be completely wrong if that feeling was named as his unrealised love.♡

A/N
Did Abir ever realised his love for Mishti or not? Did he ended up with Mishti or ended up with the one he was committed to earlier?
Well you all can imagine your respective ending. This one has an open ending. This is my first ever try to write something. MishBir are close to my heart. So I thought why not I should start with them. Do tell me how was it.🤍
