Chapter 2 - The Surprise

"What's up Arthit?" Yong says as he approaches Arthit who's at a table in front of a food stand near their work.

"P'Yong, sawasdee krap." Arthit puts down his phone and wai's at Yong as he notices his presence. "Taking a break?"

"Yes, I'm here to buy coffee." Yong responds "I'll be back with you soon."

As Yong goes to get his Coffee, Arthit's phone starts to ring.

"Hello Kongpob?" Arthit answers quickly.

"P'Arthit, about the result..."

"You got it right? You got the scholarship, right?" Arthit said eagerly.

"Yes, I got it." Kongpob smiles at Arthit's excitement.

"That's really awesome Kongpob! I'm happy for you. I'm really happy for you."

"Thank you so much, P'Arthit." Arthit's smile was now bigger than Kongpob's, with genuine joy. "So... do you want to eat anything special tonight?"

"Well, anything is fine. Whatever you make, I'll just have it."

"Okay. Well then... see you tonight" Kongpob said with a more loving tone than Arthit picks up.

"Okay, see you." Arthit responds then hangs up.

Kongpob re-enters his room after buying some things to surprise Arthit.

His plan consists of a few things,

Firstly, the meal. Although he isn't the best at cooking he closely follows a recipe and tries his best at a good meal.

Second, decoration. He tediously blows up white balloons (which he'll do something else with a few of them later) until there's plenty on the bed and floor around him.

Lastly, the finishing touches. He makes sure the plates look nice and...

He reaches for his phone at the sound of the Line notification from Arthit.

<Kongpob, come up to the rooftop>

Kongpob wonders for a second what he has in store, then makes his way up.

Kongpob opens the door of the rooftop to beautiful stringed lights and a table set up, with a group of his friends and Arthit in front of him.

"SURPRISE!!!" They all say in unison.

"What is this P'Arthit?" Kongpob says with a huge smile.

"Just like what you see. A surprise from me. Do you like it?"

Arthit looks proud of his surprise. Right after he hung up on Kongpob earlier he went straight to calling around making sure everyone could come. He called to recruit the help of Prem to set everything up with him, and took care of the rest.

Kongpob just smiled and joined the group to go get some food that was prepared. The group eventually sat around the table talking and laughing, catching up on things and talking about exciting futures.

"Time really flies. Many of us have separated in our own ways. Now, Kong is going to China to study too" May comments.

"M has just gone and now Kong." Oaks adds.

"Kong will be studying economics like he has dreamed of." Tew says more positively.

"I heard it's difficult to get this scholarship!" Tuta says and looks up to Kongpob waiting to see if the gossip is real.
