As I went home, Barry and Mo were just getting home from the studio and they looked tired beyond belief while I was riding high. I was the happiest I've ever been. I get to see Melody in her element and what she's really like. I felt like I was floating on a cloud.
"Robin? Did you hear me?" Barry asks, waving a hand in front of my face.
"Is it that girl, Melody?" Mo adds.
I blush a little. "Well, I like her a lot and she told me about this Barefoot Freedom festival tonight and I'm taking her. I get to dance with her all night long..."
They give each other looks. "I've never seen you this way before. You're smitten with her, aren't you?" Barry says, crossing his arms.
"It's more than that. I saw the future, our future, in her eyes. It sounds crazy, but I can vouch when I say love at first sight happens." I said in a dreamy tone, completely distracted.
"Well, we'll let you get ready, Casanova." Mo and Barry laugh and snicker and I only roll my eyes and walk away.
What would she like me to wear the best? Something that I can dance in, although I can't dance. I can hardly slow dance well.
I look through my closet and choose a pair of blue jeans and a short-sleeved button-up shirt. Yeah, nice. I think she'll like it. I decided to button it up to where she can see a little chest hair. We'll see how crazy I can drive her in this...
I take a good look at myself in the mirror and head to the bathroom to freshen myself up. You know, brushing my hair and possibly a little bit of cologne.
Barry and Maurice look at me coming out of the bathroom and grin. "You really care about this girl, don't you?"
I only nod in response. "Well? Are you guys coming?" I didn't have any shoes on only because I knew she wouldn't have any on.
They all nod and we head out the front door to the diner. I want to get there before her so she can see me standing there, and I want to see the smile on her face.
The air was cool and the sky was turning different colors, and it looked so pretty. Although it was nothing compared to how pretty Melody looks right now, I bet.
We three start talking to some of the townspeople. Barry and Mo were deep in conversation with them and I was distracted, looking around for her. I kept searching for her among the people.
The road underneath my bare feet felt strange at first, and I admit that it took a few minutes for me to get used to it. But then it felt nice and soothing. I can tell why she doesn't like to wear shoes now.
Then I saw her.
She was walking down the street in a white, flowy, embroidered dress that went to the knee and her hair was natural and she even had a little bit of makeup to make her green eyes stand out. She looked breathtaking. I think she literally took my breath away.
We locked eyes and the music started playing. Everyone else in the world melted away and it was only us. Me and her. The way I wanted it to be forever.
I instinctively walked right to her and we met in the middle of the square at the gazebo. She's stunning.
I stood inches away from her, yet I ceased to touch her. Did she want me to...? Although, I admit that I did want to hold her close and take her hand in mine.
"Hello, my Melody..." I smile at her sweetly.
She blushes madly and smiles a big smile in return. "Hello my Robin," she said softly.
