Dear Jennie,
I hardly knew her so why do I miss her? Maybe it's because it was easy to talk to her? She was nice to me, maybe it's that. I think I was mean. When I walked away from her in the library, that was mean of me. Maybe I should have forgiven her. No, I can't be stupid again. I've forgiven people before when they did this to me before and in the end, they just kept doing the same thing over and over again. I won't let her do that to me too.
- Jennie

"Are you okay?" Chaeyoung asked as she leaned towards Jennie in the cafeteria. "You look upset."

Jennie shrugged, not sure if it was a good idea to tell her friends about her very short-term friendship with Lisa ending. She guessed that's all it was.

She knew Jisoo and Chaeyoung would be mad and Jisoo would probably say something to Lisa. Jisoo did tell her to be careful.

"I'm okay," she finally spoke, not looking at her friends. "I'm just tired."

"Are you sure?"

Jennie nodded, hating that she was lying.

-

"Hey, Jennie!" Taehyung's loud voice yelled for Jennie from downstairs. She was in her room studying when Taehyung started repeatedly yelling her name until she opened the door.

"What is it, Taehyung?" She sighed, looking down the staircase to see her brother grinning.

"You got a visitor," he shot her a wink before he walked away.

Jennie, confusedly walked down the staircase, not knowing why Jisoo or Chaeyoung would show up at her house without texting her. Plus, they would have come upstairs themselves.

Jennie stopped in her tracks, not realizing she was now also holding her breath. "Lisa?"

Lisa exhaled slowly, giving her a sheepish smile. "Hi... I'm uh sorry if it's weird coming here. I just wanted to talk."

Jennie blinked, talking a minute to shake her head and comprehend what was going on. "Let's uh... go upstairs." She didn't want Taehyung overhearing anything so she walked back up the stairs, Lisa following her.

"What are you doing here?" Her voice was quiet, not much above a whisper. She folded her arms, shifting on her feet as she stood across from her in her room and waited for an answer.

Her heart was beating erratically and she had never felt this nervous before but seeing Lisa standing there in her room was very weird for her.

Lisa sighed, "Look, I know you don't believe me but I really am sorry. I didn't mean to disappear on you like that, I just... got weird or something. But Jennie, believe me when I say that I am in no way using you or just talking to you when I'm bored."

"Then why are you?" She didn't know where she was getting the courage to speak like this, though her voice was still quiet and gentle like always. She just wanted answers.

Lisa sighed, taking a seat on the edge of her bed. She ran a hand through her hair, "Because I... I like being around you, Jennie. You just make me smile even if you don't say anything. And your smile? It lights up the whole room even though I don't think you ever let yourself fully smile. Your sweet and smart and adorable and... I just didn't realize I'd miss you so much when I'm not around you."

Jennie blinked, feeling like she no longer remembered how to breathe. Again, nobody ever said things to her the way Lisa did and it made her whole heart feel warm.

Of course, she debated for a moment if she was just telling her what she wanted to hear but then she realized that she wouldn't have come all the way here to make up if she didn't really mean all the things she was saying.

Jennie didn't say anything.

She surprised both Lisa and herself immensely when she slowly walked up to her, took his hands so she would stand up, and then just hugged her.

Lisa took a second before she smiled and hugged her back, never wanting to let go. She felt like if she did let go, Jennie would just slip away forever. This is how she wanted it - to just be here to hold her when she needed it.
