What is it like to have a load of money? I mean in my opinion, if I had the amount of money that Bryce Walker has, I would buy a new car, new clothes, new shoes and maybe a light for my bedroom to make it look brighter. I would buy a ton of alcohol if it was special event or something, not just willy nilly.
It had been a least four months since Bryce's party and where I had to rescue Hannah Baker from getting hurt that night, but something still did not seem right. Anytime I was in school, when I walked past Hannah she still seemed upset. I mean she tried to hide it well by smiling at me, but I knew Hannah was not okay.
Bryce walked by Hannah one day, but Hannah just looked at the floor. She did not make any eye contact with Bryce what so ever. Bryce on the other hand had a good look at Hannah, which made my fist clench. I was angry with myself that I used to be good mates with him and that I thought what he did was okay, so I did it to. I am really ashamed of myself for being like that. I was an idiot.
A lunch time, I would sit with Tyler, protecting him at all costs, which he seemed to like it, because he would always thank me for it. I was proud that I had came close to Tyler as a friend, not the boy that used to shove him in the locker or crowd him in the boy's bathroom.
Whenever I looked over at the boy's, they always used to snicker at us when we where both eating our lunch, but I told Tyler to not take any notice of it. They where just a bunch of jocks that thought they ruled the school, especially Bryce Walker.
After the day had flown by, I went to my locker to grab a few thing's out. I heard Bryce's voice and a girl that sounded very familiar, but she was quite faint, so you could not really tell what she was responding back to Bryce.
I walked over quickly, but silently, just so Bryce could not here me and then I saw her. It was Hannah. Bryce had cornered her up near the end of the hallway and there was no exit for Hannah to escape. Everybody had gone home and I was the only one walking about in the school. Even some of the staff and teachers had gone home.
I yelled at Bryce shouting, "Hey. Leave her alone." Bryce quickly turned to see me eyes directly looking into each others, finishing it off with an evil glare between us both. Bryce did not look like he was going to budge, so I tried to make eye contact with Hannah, but then I saw that she was crying, which made me have daja vu, when Tyler was laying on the floor, crying in pain from what I had done to him.
I punched Bryce, trying to get him off Hannah and let her escape, but then Bryce did something which I was really shocked by. He just let Hannah go, but as she turned, he moved his hand to the back of her and had a quick grab before Hannah could say 'no'. I punched Bryce again, slamming him down onto the floor. Hannah was crying, but louder this time.
Bryce ran off, still trying to finish the fight with me, but I took him down quite quickly. I held Hannah's hand to reassure her that she was safe with me, which she smiled faintly back, still crying, but the noise of her cries where a bit softer than before. I gave her a hug sand then drove her home. When I braked at the top of her house, Hannah then turned around to me and said, "Thanks, Monty. I really appreciate it. It is not the first time he has done that to me."
My mouth dropped. Bryce had done that to her before. Was that the secret that Hannah had been hiding from everyone? Was that why she was sad every time I saw her in the hallways? When did he do this before?
There was one thing I knew for sure, Bryce had it coming for him. I was not going to let him get away with it all again. Not ever again on my watch.
