(Author note, this isn't one story, its a collection of stories. Unless specified, you don't need to have read the rest to understand them, so feel free to reed them in any order. All of then are set in a vaguely ancient Greek setting, where all the traditional myths are well known, with the occasional folk lore inspired story)

The rat scuttled down a maze of passage ways, deep underground, flawlessly remembering her way. She passed a variety of tunnels she had dug out in order to confuse people, as she climbed lower and lower. Eventually she arrived to the end. She squeezed through the hole, barely an inch wide, and fell to the floor, landing on an open book. The book was a surprisingly good tale, one she wished had gotten more attention. As her body changed into a more human form, she picked it up, and slotted it into the nearest shelf

Hestia wished she could have her library somewhere else, somewhere people could actually access, but if the stories had taught her anything, it wouldn't last long. The gloom clung to the shelves, as if it had made a home there. It might well have done, Hestia thought, it had been a while since she had been down here. She lifted her hand to an empty lamp, brushing away a cobweb, to bring some light into the library.

She made her way down to the main, open area of the library. There was an underlying floor there, but she only knew this through memory. Right now she was half walking, half wading through pages that littered the floor. This wasn't any of the myths she had documented, but first drafts, with some more recognised myths sprinkled in as well. They lead up to a platform, jutting out from the floor. Hestia climbed it, and pulled out the chair on it. She found it to be the best writing spot, as it overlooked most of the the library and had a general feeling of grandeur. She pulled out a feather, mostly for the atheistic purpose, and cast her mind back to the new events she had observed. She eventually settled on one, and started writing.
