eddie sighs, walking into his bedroom. he moved slowly over to his desk, unloading his books from his bag to study. stanley and his parents were out shopping for groceries. they had offered for eddie to go with them, but he had politely declined. next week was full of finals and he had to study, especially due to the fact he knew he would get absolutely no studying done this weekend. he sits at his desk, opening one of many textbooks, beginning to take notes as he reads. around half way through the first chapter his mind begins to drift to his extremely annoying four eyed friend. he'd never admit it, probably not even to himself, but he loved that boy. though he was annoying, dirty, and overall everything eddie should hate, he couldn't help but love him. he and richie were friends even before the losers met.

they met in third grade, eddie was sitting on the bench at recess, due to the fact that his mother wouldn't allow him to play. richie was a scrawny little four eyed weirdo, no one wanted to talk to him, so he was sitting in the grass beside the playground. "what's wrong four eyes?! don't wanna slide?" eddie called casually to richie, though at the time he didn't know his name. richie just shakes his head, pulling the grass around him absentmindedly. "oh.. well you can come sit with me if you want to!" eddie says, still loud but with a much softer tone. he smiles a little when he sees the other boy push himself to his feet, walking over to the other end of the bench, still not saying anything. "i'm eddie!" he says with a chipper tone. "oh uhm, i'm richie" richie responds, quietly. "why aren't you playing?" richie asks, his voice still low and timid. "my mom doesn't let me play. i have asthma.." eddie responds, holding up his inhaler that is tucked tightly in his hand. "can we be friends?" richie asks softly, finally looking up at eddie. eddie smiles, nodding quickly. "yes please!" he giggles. from then on, it was richie and eddie, eddie and richie.

eddie had known for a few years that he was different. he didn't look at girls the way the other boys did, including richie. he never found girls hot.. he thought they were beautiful.. but he didn't want them the way the other guys did. when they would go to the quarry, he didn't understand why the other boys would stare at bev the way they did. until one day, about the middle of june after their freshman year, they had made their way to the quarry. richie had always been pretty self conscious, always swimming in his t-shirt. this summer was different. he had grown into himself quite a bit, he had been going to the gym every once in a while with ben and mike. he by no means had the muscular body that they both did, but he had toned up quite a bit. this was the first time sense they'd all hit their growth spurts, that eddie had seen richie without his shirt. at that moment, he understood the reason they would stare. he tried so hard to hide that part of himself. he had been taught by his mother that it was disgusting and terrible to feel that way about other boys. sophomore year was a complete 180 for the group. when stanley finally came out as bisexual, was when eddie finally decided to let the losers in on his little secret. they were all completely accepting of course, but richie had immediately started making jokes about eddie liking him. eddie knew his real feelings, but continued to deny all of it. the summer after sophomore year, bill and beverly finally broke up, making way for them both to come out as opposite ends of the spectrum, bill was gay and beverly was a raging lesbian. now, at the end of their senior year, ben and richie were the only heterosexuals in the group. mike has stated that he still doesn't know what he is, but he isn't straight.

eddie continues to crush on his straight best friend, who would never give him a chance in the world, while he could easily like bill, or even stanley, but his heart just will not stop wanting richie.

"eddie!" the voice pulls him from his own mind, he groans slightly, knowing it must have been forever sense he zoned out. he glances at the clock on the wall, 8 pm.. he got absolutely no studying done. he pushes himself from the chair, making his way out of his room and down the stairs. "hey" he says, walking into the kitchen to meet stan and his parents. "we got take out for dinner, yours is on the table" stan says pointing towards the dining room. "oh, okay thank you!" eddie replies, walking to the bags of groceries, to help put them up.
