Austen stepped outside for the first time in three and a half months. While her mother, Debbra, was filling out papers Austen wandered outside. She looked at everything. All the grass, the flowers, trees, anything in eyesight. She took it all in because she knew she'd be back in no time being treated for whatever they diagnose her with next time.
Before Austen was admitted, she spent all of her time in her room. She never wanted to go outside. Now, after what feels like a million years of being stuck inside, she'd stay outside forever. Any time, any where, any weather. To her, the outdoors was never as beautiful as it was at this very moment.
She say down on one of the benches outside, taking everything in. Sitting there was far more interesting then staring at white walls for hours on end.
Everything seemed so imaginary. before Austen was released she used to sit on her bed and imagine what was going on in what she called "the imaginary world". She'd imagine how things looked and how different everything was since she'd been admitted.
Sometimes she'd wonder if everybody forgot about her - they didn't. She thought they wouldn't remember her when she got back - IF she got back.
All Austen really wanted was to be normal and have a normal life. Well, sweetie, sorry to tell you, that's never going to happen.
