   "Stop trying to find me..."

She said to me so calmly. How can she be so calm in this situation? She is missing and she is over here by the ocean, taking in the air. "I know you want to see me on last time but I'm not like you remember..."

"Mary, I can't let you go. I can't let who ever did this to you go..."

She stayed quiet. I pushed up my glasses. Mary stared at me. She knows I'm stubborn and she knows that I will not give up until I find her body and who ever hurt her. "Lynn, it's not worth it. You'll only hurt yourself." She spoke to me in a stern voice.

"Mary, you need to be at peace. I will not rest until you rest."

"I don't feel like talking about thing."

"It's all we can talk about. Now, I was told to ask you a few questions."

    "Why?"

"To at least help us catch the murderer."

"Hurry, the sun is coming up."

"What is the last thing you remember?"

"I remember waking up next to you. I wanted to take a walk and....that's all I remember."

"Have you seen your body anywhere?"

"Lynn, I haven't. I would tell you if I had."

The air grew colder. I opened my mouth to ask one last question, "Who killed you?" I looked around go only see her gone.

I guess it's sunrise. I have to get up now.

🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

I opened my eyes to see my popcorn ceiling. I forced myself to sit out, letting out a long sigh. It's like my dreams are keeping me from solving Mary's mystery. She won't even answer my questions truthfully.

I got off my bed, feeling a bit groggy. I didn't have to worry about changing since I fell asleep in my work clothes anyway. Damn work.

I work and an detective investigator thing, I don't remember. I haven't solved many murders as Mary's my first one. Her case has been closed in many years but me and some coworkers are not ready for it to be forgotten. They relied on me for my dreams as I keep seeing Mary in them.

Weeks, I feel restless as I can't get a good nights rest. I have a feeling I know who killed her but I don't know who. It's confusing. This whole case led me into a bad case of insomnia and my health hasn't been very good.

"Lynn, you can't just have the door wide open with your dick out."

My roommate, Emilio. Horniest fucker on the planet. He is constantly screwing around with chicks, dudes, they/thems, whatever. "Sorry..." I grunted as I pulled up my pants.

"It's alright dude. Oh, by the way, your papers came in...they don't look too good, love..."

I rolled my eyes. I walked out of the bedroom only to see a paper that's is inked with red pen on the coffee table. "Son of a bitch..." I grumbled.

I picked up the letter, reading the words that were written for me.

  Mr. Smith,

I am here to inform you that you are being fired. You haven't done much work on the Mary case or any other cases. You can keep what was given to you. We have have called you about this but you haven't picked up the phone so sorry that it had to be that way.

                 Your boss,
                       J. Noir

Son of a bitch... "Looks like you have to work with me at my dead end, cubical job. Plus side is that you're fairly attractive so the boss might fuck." Emilio said, reading over my shoulder.

I shoved him off, "I'm not going to be a stripper."

"Come on, how else do you think I can afford such things like this one bedroom apartment and weed~"

"Go get me a beer.." I grumbled at him.

Emilio sighed as he opened my mini-fridge and pulled up a Bud-Light. "Beer is so gross." He said as he popped it opened and handed it to me.

"Weed is gross." I said back.

"You never even tried it, asshole."

"Mary would be upset if she was alive right now."

"I think Mary had been upset when all three of us had to share a bed. Plus she'd be upset at you smoking and drinking. Now get up, we got a party to go to."

   I grumbled.

🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂

"I don't want to be here..." I complained to Emilio.

I turned just to see him making out with some chick. I slapped Emilio and He death glared me. "Asshole, I was talking to you!" I yelled him.

"Yeah, okay and? This girl is so pretty~" Emilio pecked the chicks lips.

I scowled in disgust and pulled Emilio away from the chick. "Do you think Mary's killer could be in this party?" I whispered to him.

Emilio pushed me off, "Dude just drop it. Your life has gone to shit since she went missing and you are so convinced that she is dead. Well news flash, asshole, maybe she ran away because you are such a control freak."

"She is dead. She told me in my dream."

"Oh here comes the dreams." Emilio rolled his eyes, "Never crossed your mind that dream are what you want to happen. Just drop the case, Lynn. I miss you."

"My coworkers said that my dreams could lead us to her."

"MAYBE YOUR COWORKERS ARE AFRAID TO TELL YOU HOW FUCKING CRAZY YOU ARE SO THEY JUST GO ALONG WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAY BUT YOU WON'T ADMIT TO THE FACT THAT YOU'RE THE REASON SHE IS GONE. YOU ARE THE REASON SHE IS MISSING!"

"What are you trying to say?"

"I'm claiming that you killed her."

That dickwad. I growled, "YOU THINK I WOULD KILL HER. MARY MEANT SO MUCH TO ME."

"YOU SEEMED SO PISSED WHEN YOU CAUGHT US MAKING OUT AND THE ONLY WAY YOU TOOK YOUR ANGER OUT WAS TO KILL HER. POINT PROVEN."

"YOU ASSHOLE!" I punch Emilio in the face.

Everyone stopped doing what they were doing. Emilio was on the ground, holding his nose. I walked closer to see blood running down his forearm and he was crying. I widen my eyes as I kneeled down to aid Emilio. Emilio pushed my away. "Fucking dick." He grumbled.

I looked up to see everyone staring and whispering. I looked back at Emilio. Emilio started laughing. "Everyone! I'm okay, he just elbowed me really hard by accident!" Emilio giggled as everyone went back to what they were doing.

He stood up and offered me a hand. I got up and pat his head. "Sorry, I shouldn't have-"

"You're lucky I'm weak. You know what sounds nice?"

    "What?"

"A casual roommate sex." He chuckled.

"I'm not doing that with you."

    "Fine, fine!" Emilio laughed.

He placed an arm around me. I looked at him. He was cute. He was more on the feminine side and had a scent of sugar and apples. His smile was cute too. He sure was almost everyone's type. Friendly, hyper, funny, and charismatic. Emilio knew how to solve a situation even if it means he'd get in trouble.

"Come on, Lynn, let's go back home and get cleaned up." He smiled widely
