Bright rays of sunshine broke through the barrier of curtains that are hung over the many windows in my apartment. The soft sound of birds chirping could be heard over the rumble and bustle of cars outside. Baylee, my best friend, who is sitting besides me, chuckled slightly. "what?" I smiled and looked over at her. The sunlight bounced off her straight blonde hair making it lighter then it already is. She is a human, but also the only one of my friends that knows my secret.
"Your staring into space with that stupid grin on your face again," she answered. Her pretty, bright blue eyes meeting my ugly brown ones.
"So?" I said sarcastically, I always stare into space these days, what difference does the grin make.
"You only grin like that when your thinking about boys." she got up off of the couch and walked towards the kitchen, her bare feet clapping against the boring white kitchen floor. I felt myself blush and looked down, I picked at the strings of my worn out socks.
"Yeah, maybe I was" I stated and followed her to the kitchen. I pulled the handle of one of the cabinets and grabbed two cups. I slid one over to Baylee and started towards the fridge.
"We need to get you a boyfriend," I looked over to Baylee, she was now sitting on the counter nibbling a mint Oreo. Good luck with that. I thought and opened the refrigerator. I took out a pitcher of pink lemonade and poured some into her cup, then mine. I took a seat next to her on the counter and was just going to respond when there was a knock on the apartment door.
