Chapter 3

Dawn's POV

I was so glad history period was over before I had a hot session with Mr.Smith. I packed my things and hurried out of class leaving Jay behind. I went to my locker and opened it to place my history textbook and as I turned around one fist came to the front and stopped infront of my nose.

"Ohhh stop it Josh you'll frighten her", she said and he grinned while he stood behind her. I sighed. "What do you want kacey?", I asked. "Oh nothing", she replied "just checking on my bestie, how could I ever forget you?", she asked like she was actually meaning what she said. Her hands reach out and picked up some of my hair and let it glide out of her hands. By the time I looked around a crowd already gathered and was staring at us.

Then heat rushed through my cheeks as my face turned to the side and that stinging sensation set in. I quickly looked at her and held my cheek. She hit me. She fricking hit me. I found myself dumbfounded as I looked around at everyone laughing at me.

Tears weld up in my eyes and i thought why do i have to go through this kind of shit. I truly felt like a cockroach in a fowl party at that moment. But i had to stand up for myself and now was the time, I took the last bit of bravery i had and plunged on top of kacey and started punching her. Then Josh lifted me off of her and threw me on the opposite wall. And everyone was just making alot of noise. There was so much commotion I don't know why any supervisors were not here yet. It was the most painful thing ever and I slowly got up to see Josh getting beat up by someone. Then he stopped and turn to look at me and flashed one of those million dollar smiles. My heart fluttered and I mentally cursed for feeling that way but he was gorgeous. He slowly took step towards me and now all eyes were on us, he stopped infront of me. "Hey babe you missed me?", he said and at that moment all i wanted to do was get buried right there.

"Nick?", i asked. He looked at me and winked. At that moment emotions came flooding down like a river and I did not know what to feel. His eyes examined my face like an open book, like he understood how I was feeling and he just took me up and threw me over his shoulders and carried me out the school.

The last thing i remembered was seeing Jay's mouth hanging in the shape of a zero.
