A/N
Originally, chapters thirty-seven and thirty-eight were supposed to be one chapter but it eventually became too long. Since I couldn't really find a good moment to split it, you might want to reread at least the last paragraphes of the last chapter for better understanding.

Wooyoung was gaining a foothold. He was growing increasingly comfortable around San and his self-confidence was beginning to show. He grinned to himself; he could almost hear San call him 'brat'. It was just a matter of interpretation.

"You know, I did almost go crazy because I didn't know what was going on with you."

San 😺🌋
im sorry

"Don't apologize!" Wooyoung wanted to slap himself. He felt like whatever he said was either a hit or a miss, nothing in between. Making San feel worse was definitely not the goal here though. "I just hated the fact that I didn't know how to support you, and I never want to feel like that again. If you have any struggles in the future, do you promise not to let it eat you alive? Instead just please tell me what's bothering you and we can figure it out together. Promise?"

San's expression was unreadable and it was impossible to know what he was thinking, but that didn't discourage Wooyoung. He had started this, so he would finish it. He had been worried sick over weeks because he hadn't had the slightest idea of what was bothering San. It was well within his right as a best friend to ask San to never have to experience that again.

His voice was serious but quiet when he spoke. "Please promise me?"

A flicker of a smile appeared on San's face.

San 😺🌋
just give me some time to process
that the ill-behaved brat
ive been talking to for all this time
is actually the sweetest human being

Wooyoung cursed himself when he felt the blood rush into his cheeks. "Yah! Don't distract from the topic, I'm trying to be serious here, you idiot!"

San almost laughed at his predictable defensiveness, his eyes disappearing when he smiled brightly.

San 😺🌋
i would never distract anyone!!

San 😺🌋
but yes
I promise :)

Wooyoung threw him a dark look but it was obvious, he tried not to smile. As he was getting frustrated with himself for not being able to actually be mad at San, his expression turned into a frowning pout.

"If you break your promise, I'll call every agency in Seoul until I find you, and then I'll walk right in there. I'll kick the doors in if necessary. And you won't be able to escape and you'll have to tell me."

San's eyebrows had risen up to his hairline in incredulity. However, his eyes sparkled with amusement and a wide grin adorned his face

San 😺🌋
oh my god
wooyoungie, please don't tell me
that you actually would have done that??

Wooyoung's pout grew. "It was my plan B. I even had a plan how to trick those mean front desk clerks- just in case I didn't have to kick down the door."

San burst out in silent laughter. His dimples were deeply showing as his hand flew over his mouth in an attempt to control himself. Wooyoung wanted to sulk so badly, because he was obviously being laughed at, but at this moment, he was a lot more interested in watching the phenomenon that was Choi San. He looked wonderfully happy and free, and painstakingly breathtaking. Wooyoung didn't even notice how his lips spread into a full wide grin.

San 😺🌋
sorry
i should probably be honoured
you'd go and kick in doors for me

"Damn right, you should!"
