After lunch, the four (plus Bosola) made their way outside to their first ever Care of Magical Creatures class.
"C'mon, you're so slow," groaned Quinn, tugging Hermione's hand to get her to speed up.
"The grass is damp, Strawberry," said Hermione. "We all know that you will fall over if you run."
"No I won't!" said Quinn defiantly, letting go of Hermione to tug on Harry's sleeve instead. "I'll race you?"
"No, you will fall," said Harry, deadpan.
Quinn frowned and let go of his sleeve, prepared to ask Ron, her last chance. As soon as she let go of Harry's sleeve though, he began to sprint.
"Wha- hey that's cheating!" called Quinn. She hastily picked up Bosola from her shoulder and passed him to Ron, quickly chasing after her raven-haired friend.
"No, it's being clever," called back Harry, grinning. He could see the rest of the class near Hagrids hut. Harry sped up until he reached the group. He got there just before Quinn, panting and gripping an amused Seamus Finnegans shoulder to keep him standing.
"Bitch," called Quinn, but she was still laughing as she prepared to slide to a halt next to Harry. Her hair flew behind her as she stretched out her arms like a ballerina, expecting a graceful stop. Instead she skidded a bit and slipped face forward into the sopping wet grass.
"Told you," sang Hermione, smiling smugly as Ron forked over 5 sickles.
"My fault for believing in you Quinn," groaned Ron.
"Yes, yes I'm ruining your life," said Quinn, her voice muffled from the ground. "Anyone gonna help me up?"
Harry rolled his eyes but moved to her side, gently gripped her elbows and lifted her up onto her feet.
"Thank you, Harold," said Quinn. She grimaced at the damp grass that clung to her uniform, and shook herself in an attempt to remove it. She reminded Harry of a wet dog shaking itself dry.
"C'mere," sighed Ron placing his hands on Quinn's shoulders to stop her strange movement, and brushed her off himself. Once she was rid of the damp grass, he passed back her lizard.
Quinn thanked Ron, replaced Bosola back on her shoulder, and then turned to Hagrid, who was impatiently waiting for the class at the door of his hut. He stood in his odd moleskin coat with his boarhound, Fang, at his heels.
"C'mon now, get a move on!" he called as the class approached. "Got a real treat for yeh today! Great lesson comin' up! Everyone here? Right, follow me!"
Harry laughed slightly as he watched Quinn practically bounce in eagerness as she grabbed Hermione's hand and pulled her after Hagrid.
"She has too much energy for her own good," said Ron, also watching the pair. "We might need to start hiding coffee and sugar from her. She might explode."
They followed Hagrid around the edge of the forest for five minutes until they found themselves outside a kind of paddock.
"Where are the creatures?" wondered Quinn as she leaned against the wooden fence and gazed into the empty clearing.
"Dunno," said Harry, who stood to Quinn's left. He was admiring the multiple sparkly green butterfly clips in her curly hair, and after a few moments of consideration, started to fiddle with them. Quinn, noticing this, took one of the clips out of her hair and clipped it into Harry's instead.
"It goes with your eyes," she whispered before turning back to Hagrid.
"Make sure yeh can see," Hagrid called. "Now firs' thing yeh'll want ter do is open yer books -"
