Former dog groomer and now a multi-millionaire, "Dr." Bob Bensen, age 52, has a serious character flaw that his wife Doris is well aware of after 25 years of marriage: He's a terrible braggart!

Unfortunately, it's a lifelong habit. He boasted his way through childhood about the toys and sports equipment his indulgent parents bought him and later he boasted his way through his small town high school about making the wrestling and football team.

He bragged about his first full-time job as a dog groomer and a few years later about the same dog grooming business his parents bought him. Years later he was boasting about his successful dog grooming businesses located in small towns in Washington state and Oregon.

But in his affluent new city of Eucalyptus Grove not far from Santa Barbara California small town Bob finally finds his boasting backfires badly!

Is it too late for this self-centered career braggart to change? Stay tuned.

Bob's First Bowser's

"Unlike his tall, thin father Robert Sr., at 5'7" young Bob has a compact athletic build from his mother's side of the family. That is one reason that in high school he excelled in football and wrestling. But what he lacked in height he made up for by bragging about his accomplishments.

The only child of well-to-do older parents, Bob was one of those rare individuals who found his calling in life early. The summer he graduated from high school, the energetic, ambitious 17-year-old who fed and groomed the family's two champion German Shepherd dogs- - Buster, and Bowser - - applied and was hired as a dog groomer for the only dog grooming business in his small hometown in Washington State.

"That's fine you found a summer job, Robert, but isn't it time you got serious about your future and put your application in for college in the fall?" asked his dad, Robert Sr.

"I already know I want to be dog groomer and you don't have to go to college for that!" said his strong-willed son.

"A dog groomer - - that's ridiculous" scoffed his father. This wasn't the future that the successful tax attorney had planned for their son and only child.

"Dog groomers earn peanuts compared to college graduates who prepare for a profession! Better buckle down and study and get a law degree like I did - - that's where the real money is!"

As usual his son ignored him. Instead Bob continued to work days but one night a week he attended a small business management course. He talked excitedly of one day having his own dog grooming business.

"If I owned one I would name it after Bowser and it would be much more than just a grooming salon - - it would also have a store with dog care products and a kennel!" Bob told his parents.

He continued to put in long hours as a dog groomer over the next three years and saved his money and when the owner decided to retire in his mid sixties and put the business up for sale Bob pleaded with his father to loan him the money for it. The cost of the business far exceeded his meager savings. His dad finally relented but he wasn't happy about it.

"Just remember that this was money we put aside for your college education so see that you spend it wisely," cautioned Bob's father, who was still very disappointed his son wasn't interested in going to college.

"Thanks Dad, I promise that you and Mom won't be sorry, and when it starts making money I'll pay you back every penny!" said Bob.

The young owner had big plans for expanding the business which he re-named Bowser's Dog Grooming Palace. With plenty of cash, Bob did some extensive re-modeling and expansion. The new store had floor to ceiling windows on the ground floor, attractive redwood exterior siding, and comfortable hardwood floors. Bob added an outdoor kennel, a dog run, a store with high quality dog food and supplies and a second story for some offices. The newly expanded business did extremely well and in a couple of years Bob was able to pay his parents back in full. Thanks to bank loans, Bob went on to purchase and remodel and create successful Bowser's in Washington State and Oregon.
