D-Day

Silent like a willow,

Calm as a field.

Steady as waves on a shore,

Quick like a bullet.

In the midst of battle,

We aim our guns.

We are calm,

We are resilient,

We will carry on.

In our time of panic,

We held fast.

Never letting go of control.

In the dawn of hope,

That we would cross the German lines

And end the Stalemate.

In the brink of battle,

We were short handed,

But we faced no defeat.

We pushed on,

'Til morning light.

Most now buried,

We mourn their loss,

But all was not lost.

We held our ground and gave no mercy.

Though time was running out,

We never lost hope.

It is a symbol of pride and the birth of our wonderful country.

Canadian's made proud of the largest advance of Allied forces.

In the depths of fear,

We kept of courage.

We never slacked off,

We marched foreword,

To our own drum.

Vimy Ridge Part Two

As we lay down our weapons,

On the grounds of France,

We honour all 11,285 Canadian's,

Whom gave their life and have no grave.

Heaven hear us now,

We send those a prayer,

Whose names we not know.

In them we found our hero's,

Please let them know.

This world has since changed,

But we are trying to let go.
