The sun rose over the ocean, as it had for many years now. Upon the highest ridge closest to the sea, stood a man. This was no ordinary man. No, this man was the most powerful man in the entire Archipelago. He just didn't know it yet. What he did know was that there was something in the water far below him. The great shadow of a beast swept out in the waves below him, heading away from him. As the sun rose higher, illuminating the land, another cloaked figure joined the man. The first man turned towards the second.

"Are you sure you want this?" The cloaked man asked

When the first man turned back, the cloak knew his answer. Once again below, the shadow swam in and out of sight. The presence of spikes upon the creature's back broke the surface. As the water rippled, the ridge man gripped the hilt of his sword, the blade safely tucked into its sheath.

"I'm sorry, you know I must do this. You know what they'll do to me-to my people."

"I understand, but before you do it use this instead." The cloak of the man fell as he protruded a glowing, golden sword from his back.

"Just to make sure Darius, you make it out alive."

Darius carefully took the sword, and as it entered his grip the sword glowed brighter. The creature below turned at the sudden sight. As it began barreling back towards the coast, Darius looked down.

And he jumped off the cliff into the waiting waves below.
