A Dark Theater waits for me as I enter.

What lies in wait for me behind these doors?

A ghost? A nightmare? Emptiness?

I sit in a dark theater, alone in a red velvet seat, waiting for the people who will never come

What purpose do I have in this world?

I am a little girl who's afraid of the dark and the monsters in her closet

Afraid of the change that has come over her friend

Afraid of the lonliness she feels when she turns off the lights and tells lies to her stuffed animals

Afraid of the desertation that comes when she leaves the life she knew

Afraid of the helplessness she feels when he confronts her and tries to charm her with his smile

It will get better she hears

Everything will be ok

She is me and I am her

We are one

A little girl in a dark theater who watches the light dance across the stage

A stranger to this space

To this cosmos

To this theater

A Dark Theater awaits me as I enter.
