"There is no new evidence on the identity of the notorious 'Ugly' serial killer; infamous for raping, stabbing, and then carving 'ugly' into his victims forehead while they are submerged in salt water.

His latest murder, twenty four year old Molly Hail, was found in her apartment in South Side, Chicago. Neighbors claimed that they never saw anyone come or go from Ms. Hail's apartment the night of her death, but do remember seeing Molly bruised and battered days before she was murdered.

A missing person report has been filed for forty year old Maria Gatz, last seen ten miles away from the murder place of Molly Hail. Is she missing or murdered? Daughter, Payton Ga-"

Abruptly, I press the red power button on the TV controller, affectively cutting off the annoying voice of Julie Thort, news anchor of Chicago Daily News.

Do they have nothing better to do other than make up assumptions based on nothing? All they care about is the amount of viewers they get each month, only thinking of what they can say to bring in more. Not even once does she take into consideration the affect her words may have on others.

Silently cursing my roommate, Melanie, out for leaving the news channel on, knowing my "irrational" -as she would say- hatred for it, I continue on with my morning routine. I pull out a pair of light washed skinny jeans, a forest green flannel, a black V-neck, and my under garments from my closet and walk towards the bathroom that I share with my two roommates at the School of Art Institute of Chicago.

Amber and Melanie were the first people I met as a freshman at SAIC, now we are sophomores and have become inseparable over the past year. We all bumped into each other at orientation, where we bonded over ice cream, and then later found out that we were roomed together.

Both Amber and Melanie are the most coolest, outgoing girls at SAIC; possibly in all of Chicago. They are known for their rebellious and wild behavior, attending every single party they are invited to and being frequent customers at the college bar. I, on the other hand, am known for being their "quite and kind" friend, who "works hard" and "stays focused."

I'm sorry if I much prefer being alone with my camera, than getting stupid drunk to wake up the next day with an awful hangover, a shirt that smells like bile, and no reminisces of the day before. Since I work at the college club and watch all the things that my idiotic, highly inebriated best friends do, I know I am making the right choice.

After taking a quick shower, I put on the clothes that I picked out, brush my teeth, and add some leave-in conditioner to my shoulder length, brown wavy hair. Seeing that it was already 8:50 AM and my first class of the day, Photography 2, starts at 9:00 AM, I quickly climb up the ladder to my loft to grab my book bag, phone, wallet, and camera and rush out of my dorm.

I am happy I can finally take a break from the bustling halls that are usually occupied by scurrying students, rushing to find their new classes during the fall and spring semester. Summer semester is considerably more laid back as oppose to the other semesters. Most of the students who usually attend SAIC during fall and spring decide to take a break and retreat back to their home town.

My roommates and I, on the other hand, decided to stay in the bustling city of downtown Chicago and complete some of our required summer semester credits. Considering that it is the summer time, I decided that I was only going to take one class this semester, this way I could work full time and save up money for fall term.
