THREE ; MISCHIEVOUS

✦✧

"For Merlin's sake do not accept that invitation," a frazzled Lily Evans demanded. "This could very well be some elaborate ruse to get James closer to me through you! Oh and the nerve to have Remus ask you? Ughf!"

Magenta walked silently next to the red haired girl as she ranted on and on, not knowing she had already accepted the breakfast request. In fact, the two were headed to the Great Hall in that moment for the morning's meal.

"- is James fit? Sure he is! But that doesn't give him the right to be a complete ass to Severus. I mean, who does he think he is?!" Lily wasn't resting her case on why exactly she wouldn't date James Potter, it seemed to get stronger in reasoning as the seconds passed.

Upon entering the dining area, a boy with long black hair and another with glasses rose from their seats, sending over large waves. Sirius and James. The other two sat less loudly, with Peter giving a wide grin and Remus looking rather embarrassed by the whole ordeal.

Lily froze in her spot, surprising Magenta as she bumped into her. "What is THAT?" she queried both confused and scared.

Magenta sighed. Gosh how she disliked the attention. The Gryffindor table began to turn heads, taking notice of the bare faced bookworm. Whispers were heard and gossip spread throughout the Great Hall.

Magenta gave her best friend a kiss on the cheek. "I forgot to mention, I accepted the invitation. See you for Dark Arts later!"

The young Gryffindor hurriedly walked toward the Marauders, worried Lily might burst.

"Oh well, well. Look what we've got here!" Sirius began.

Peter Pettigrew chucked. "Miss Knight has made her highly anticipated visit!"

The young girl gave a tired smile, "I keep my promises, sadly enough. I did agree to be here.."

"Nonsense, sit with me Maggie. These gits have the breathe of the last eight eggs they devoured-" Remus offered the empty spot next to his. She said a simple thank you and sat cautiously, anxious it was an elaborate practical joke.

The black haired boy raised a finger cockily. "Moony don't forget I won. I devoured nine eggs and Prongs had an unworthy eight!"

Remus rolled his eyes, giving a nudge to his library buddy. Magenta felt comforted by his presence despite his role as a Marauder.

It was quickly noted the two rather outgoing boys of the group sat staring at Magenta, intently watching each move. Clearing her throat, she croaked out a nervous, "Can I help you?"

James Potter smirked, chewing the bacon from his plate. "It's odd, having the Magenta Knight, sit before us. Truly a treat for us Marauders. We rarely invite such company during meals-"

"Unless you're Lily Evans, in which case you've been invited several times-" Sirius chimes in.

"Rather unsuccessfully if I may add," Remus adds, sipping his tea.

The three giggle in a schoolboy manner making Magenta stifle a smile. "Ha ha. So hilarious mates," James replies sarcastically.

"Aren't I a lucky one," she remarks with equal sarcasm.

"Let's make a deal."

"Urm, what are the terms?"

"You, Magenta Knight, witch of Gryffindor house. Are to form an alliance with us, the Marauders-"

"The catch?"

"I told you Padfoot she would ask!"

"Oh shut it Moony! The catch is we will be your loyal band of protectors all while receiving the glorious benefit of eternal friendship!"

             "Glorious.."

"That is what I said... anyhow, deal?"

"Doesn't sound too appealing to me," Magenta hesitated. How would this in anyway be a positive, she only wanted a quiet Hogwarts experience. With these four, trouble was always around the corner.

"Oh c'mon," Peter started. "Have some fun! Couldn't hurt to have more than one friend-"

Magenta internally rebutted. She does have friends, many in fact. Well... if you include the ghosts and portraits in the library and the Gryffindor common room. "I suppose it couldn't.."

"Well it's an agreement!" Sirius rose from his seat. "Let's get on to Potions shall we?"

He lent out her arm, wiggling his eyebrows at the girl's delay in response. "My dear, or shall I say Potions partner, I swear I don't bite-"

"Rather barks-" Peter whispered before being elbowed by James.

Magenta clenched her jaw in defeat. "Fine," taking his arm, "You'll have to explain to Alice though why I cannot sit with her!"

Sirius grinned and so did the three other Marauders. It seemed she wasn't resisting to the boys' company. Rather, she was allowing events to unfold.

It appeared as though, Miss Magenta Knight, had a glimmer of hope. A little mischievous side waiting to be provoked.
