7: Bastard to the Rescue

"Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking."

Bright yellow lights blinded Valerita suddenly. A quick honk echoed in the desolate street.

Before her, stood a sleek black car and in it sat the one and only, Michael Cavill.

He handsomely made his way out of the car striding towards her. As a response, Valerita turned around and headed the opposite way.

But that didn't help her seeing as, when she turned, she twisted her heel and heard the unmistakeable crack of what could only have been the heel of her sandals. She lost her balanced and....

Warm strong arms wrapped around her waist pulling her back up. It could only be Michael.

She was facing him and he was looking down at her gorgeous figure. Their gazes locked and Michael wanted nothing else but to take her hard and fast then and there. He leaned down to kiss her but she put her hand on his chest and pushed him away.

"Stay away from me." Valerita grumbled and stepped away from him.

"You know you want a sequel of what happened at the club, Val." He teased and a grin pulled up on his face then slowly advanced towards her.

She backed away in response but regained her confidence seconds after. She pulled her chin up and forcefully gave him a stern look. "No." She stated.

"Oh."

"Yes. You can leave me alone now." She turned around and walked away heading towards goodness knows where but far away from him.

"I can't. And nor can you." He retorted.

She ignored him and continued walking- struggling to walk, actually. She stopped and took off her heels then went on barefoot.

After a turn in the street she ended up in a dark, dead end alley. Clearly she was going the wrong way. She turned directions but found herself staring at two strongly built, rogue men. Her body shuddered and she backed away slowly from the evilly smirking men in front of her.

"What do you say, baby, wanna take it here or should I bring you over to my place?" One of them said and brought his hand out trying to grab hers but she resisted.

"No way dude. I can't wait that long." The other one complained.

Valerita looked wide eyed at them and whimpered. She cursed herself for being so stupid.

"How about I give her a shot first? Make sure she's as worth it as she looks."

The voice came from behind both of them and they turned around to see who it was, abruptly stopping their laughter.

"Who are you man?" The first one asked.

"I'm the lady's escort. Now you better be on your way before I get you arrested." Michael told them.

"What if we don't?" The second guy asked.

Michael didn't answer before swinging his fist hard and land on the guy's face. He turned and hit the other one on the left side of his face.

Several punches later the two ruffians lay unconcious on the ground.

Everything was still a blur for Valerita. So much could have happened if Michael hadn't arrived at the right time or hadn't showed up at all. Terrible thoughts flickered continuously through her mind.

Michael held her shoulders and shook her, bringing her back to reality. Nothing pained him more than seeing her so vulnerable when those men were laughing at her.

Valerita was shivering uncontrollably and tears began to spill out of her eyes not naming to stop.

Looking at her so weak and helpless, Michael couldn't help but put his arms around her, pulling her into a long embrace.

She rested her head on his chest and clenched his blazer sobbing hard into it.

He stroked his fingers in her hair and rubbed his hand on the small of her back trying to soothe her.

A while later, he led her towards his car and sat her on the passenger seat cautiously.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at her penthouse. If only she had taken the opposite turn to the alley.

The minute the couch came beneath her, Valerita sunk down on it tears streaming down her cheeks.

Michael had come to her side almost immediately.

"Shhh.... Don't cry, Val. Nothing happened."

"You don't understand. I could've been-"

"Could've, but hadn't. Ok. I wouldn't have let that happen. I would never let anything happened to you." Michael lifted her chin so she'd face him.

He grazed his thumb on her cheeks wiping out the tears and staring deep into her tear red eyes.

Valerita calmed down and stopped crying.

"Good." Michael complimented. "Let's get you a glass of water."

He stood her up struggled to look for the kitchen until Valerita smiled and led him the way.

"Do you like milkshakes?" Michael asked out of nowhere, when the reached the kitchen.

"I do. Ummm. But why do you ask?" Valerita lit up a little.

She was glad to see Michael this way. It was obvious he was trying to cheer her up and it was working a little too.

"Thought so. Well, fortunately I can make the best sunset milkshake of my own sort. You'll love it." Michael babbled on searching for ingredients around the kitchen and sat her down on one of the stools by the counter.

"You just sit back and let the Milkshake man do some magic." Michael joked and Valerita giggled.

"You have a beautiful laugh. Keep yourself that way." He complimented.

The night was sweet and went on that way with Michael playing around and throwing jokes making her laugh in the process. He did a great job at lighting up her mood.

It was only a matter of time before he would grow on Valerita.

AN
Aaaawwwweeee. A sweet scene.

I tried really hard to make this chapter a heroic yet romantic scene.

It's my favorite so far.
