The Monday blues of a new academic week greet Mae gloomily as she walks down the corridor, her eyelids heavy and half closed. Her feet are two stones that she has to drag with difficulty. Any moment now her body will tear itself away from her legs and she would drop on the floor with a heavy thud.

The lurking eyes of the teens at Midtown Science High doesn't help either. The entire city has learned the tragic news about Dr. Harry Evans' condition and Mae's classmates are more than curious to investigate his daughter's 'condition' while at school, as though they expect her to wither and crumble on the floor weeping her heart out at any moment. Little did they know that Mae spent the last week doing exactly that. She had no energy to return to school last week and face everyone's sorry faces and their half-hearted apologies-- it's not like her dad was dead.

Clearly, her schoolmates aren't intending to put this matter behind closed doors. Mae tries her best to ignore the hushed whispers surrounding her... rumours. She still doesn't understand the need for highschoolers to simply drag themselves into dramas and feuds. There is a fine line between being curious, and poking noses into others' businesses-- thankfully, Mae belongs in the first half.

The honey blonde is genuinely surprised when she reaches her locker, realising that the couple who loved wrestling tongues in front of her locker door aren't present. She sighs, in a week of one bad news after another, this is one thing that's good news.

She looks at the locker door to her left expectantly. Peter isn't here yet and that causes her heart to tug disappointedly. Mae turns and looks around the corridor, trying to be subtle about it. The brunet boy has been living in her mind constantly now, especially after the revelation of his biggest secret. Needless to say, Mae is fiddling to wrap her head around the fact that Peter Parker is Spider-Man. The masked hero who saved Mae's father-- she hadn't even gotten the opportunity to thank him, until yesterday. Mae is in awe of Peter and the fact that he was with her for most of the week and yet, he never asked for the credit he deserves for his heroism. Mae thinks it comes with his selflessness and his desire to help others. Maybe he never wanted credit for saving Dr. Evans' life... it's almost like he doesn't realise that her father is alive and breathing now thanks to him.
