The following day, my phone ringing woke me up. Slowly opening my eyes, I searched to see who the morning bird was calling me so early on a Sunday morning. It was my best friend, Sarah.

I swiped the answer button and brought the phone to my ear, mumbling incoherent words, closing my eyes again.

"What did you say?" Sarah giggled.

"G'moorning arahh," I mumbled again.

"My god," she answered. "I thought you always woke up before 8."

Confused, I checked my phone to see the time.

"It's past noon!?" I squeaked, sitting straight up in my bed.

"Well obviously. I thought we were supposed to hang out this weekend." I could see that she was a little hurt that I didn't give her any calls.

"I'm sorry, Sarah... I went to Niagara Falls with Nithiin yesterday and I had a hectic week at work..." I leaned my head on my knee, finding excuses for being MIA.

"Stop, stop, stop. Who is Nithiin? Why I've never heard this name before?"

Blushing, I realized that I haven't told anyone about Nithiin. Just as I was about to answer her, she interrupted me again. "No, don't tell me now," she said. "I'm on my way. Get up, sleepyhead." And just like that, she hung up the phone.

I stretched myself in bed and then got up. Sliding my bunny slippers on, I went downstairs to start the coffee machine and to unlock the door. While the coffee brewed, I went to get dressed and do my hair. I decided to make a simple ponytail, it was Sunday after all. I went back downstairs to the kitchen and could smell delicious pancakes.

"Hey, Sarah." I said, giving her a big hug from behind.

She turned around and stuck her tongue out at me. "I brought you pancakes." She answered. "|Yes, I made them with almond milk. Michael didn't like them, so I thought you could eat the rest of the batch. I assume you have fruits somewhere." She went to dig into my refrigerator.

I went to get two coffees ready and sat at the table while I let my best friend spoil me in my own house. I knew that she was waiting for me to talk, but she didn't want to put pressure on me, so she kept quiet regarding Nithiin.

She sat a huge pancake in front of me filled in with strawberries and blueberries, topped with raspberry coulis. "Wow, you outdid yourself. You want me to gain weight or what?" I asked.

She laughed and sipped her coffee, staring at me, expecting me to start the conversation.

"Okay, I met Nithiin after yoga on Monday, he bumped into me while I was leaving Starbucks. Or maybe I'm the one who bumped into him since I was reading work emails..." I avoided her glare.

"And I find out about this today only, because..." She waited again, turning her hand in the air, expecting me to keep going.

"Because I didn't know if it would turn into friendship or... relationship."

She gasped. "RELATIONSHIP? Lauren, you, in a new relationship?!" Sarah became too excited.

"Calm down!! I just met him this week... To be honest I don't even know if we are in a relationship or not."

"Did he kiss you?" she asked.

I blushed.

"He kissed you!" She threw both her hands in her face, tapping her feet on the floor, squeaking. "You are definitely in a relationship."

That's why I loved this girl so much. She was such a happy soul, always happy for everyone as soon as something good happens to them. If anyone happens to be in a bad mood, she is always the first one to do anything to make them smile. When I came back from India, before the breakup, she would print pictures of Pavan and forced me to hold his face while she clicked a picture and sent it to him saying we were together again. This girl was crazy, in a good way. I couldn't help myself than to laugh at her reaction.
