Ch1: Harrison POV

" Nymeria! Gaius! Wake the fuck up!" I yelled and pounded on my friend's door. These two were the laziest kids I knew. I knew if i could wake one of them up, the other would wake up. The twins were weird like that.
Twins my ass. They looked nothing alike. Nymeria was short. So short that if I stand straight up, i can't even see the top of her head. Unlike Gaius who was almost as tall as me. Nymeria had blond hair, and Gaius had black hair. Nymeria had blue eyes, and Gaius had brown eyes. If it were up to me, I'd say they had different parents all together. Ah well.
I finally got one of them up enough to open their window.
" What do you want Harrison?" Gaius had come to the window in one of his usual grumpy moods. Since he was up, that meant that Nymeria was up.
" Did you two forget?" I shouted up to him, " We're all supposed to meet at Connor's place for that new game he got us all!". Seeing his face was good enough with the look of shock, but it made it even better when he tripped backwards.
" Nymeria! We're late! " I heard a huge ruckus and the zipping and unzipping of clothing. Eventually the twins came through the front door and were ready to go. Gaius was in his usual green and black hoodie, jeans, and brown chucks; however, Nymeria was in an orange top with what looked like the sun on it with her favorite jeans and flats. Her platinum blond hair looked white in the sun and had a strip of hair into a braid.

" Let's get going! " Nymeria took off skipping and I fell into sync next to Gaius.
" You okay man?" I took a cautionary look at my friend. Gaius and I had been good friends for a long time,  but lately he'd been getting angrier and more seclusive. I was pretty much a shut myself, but it seemed to be getting to him.

" Yeah...Yeah I'm fine Harrison. It's just...they stared up again." He looked at the ground with a defeated stare.
" Hey, it's ok man, don't worry. You know you can always talk to me. Those stupid voices can't get to you. " I gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
He looked at me with a bit of gratitude then hung his head again. " I haven't told Nymeria yet, but I have a sinking suspicion that she knows, but is waiting for me to come to her about it. I just...I can't bring myself to upset her Harrison. She's my sister and I don't want to hurt her." He looked like he was about to get choked up, so i just patted his shoulder as we walked.
We walked on together and Nymeria skipped infornt of us until we all reached Connor's house. I ran up to the door and reached out my hand to knock. Right as my fist hit the door, Connor threw open the door and yelled.
        " BOO! "
We all screamed which got him to laugh pretty hard. After his doubled over chuckle of pain, he managed to get up and was able to talk again.
" You all should've seen your faces!" He chuckled again, " They were priceless!"
Connor had his usual style picked out for each day, which was to say, a pair of aviator sunglasses It didn't matter what he wore, but this kid never took off those shades. None of us knew what his eyes even looked like.
" Come on!" He waved us in. " Iradessa and Cicero are already downstairs."
We stepped inside and followed the hall to the door to the basement. We took our time down because his stairs were always slippery. I almost fell with a side of cursing.
Once we got down there we saw Cicero and Iradessa crashing on one of the couches. Iradessa was cracking up at one Cicero's jokes. He had some really good ones up his sleeve and always knew what to say to brighten up someone's day.
Cicero was an average Joe. He had light brown, pretty close-cropped hair and chocolate eyes. He had olive colored skin, which was probably because his parents were from Italy. The one thing that stuck out about him is that he wore half of a heart on his necklace. He would never tell us what is meant.
Iradessa was cute in a little sisterly way. She was a pretty down to earth girl with stunning green eyes. She usually kept her brown hair in a braid or bun. Most of the time she wore long skirts, but she mixed it up every once and a while. She was pretty much the glue that held our group together. She introduced us all to each other and has kept us all from killing each other all this time.
Nymeria and Gaius took the other couch and I took the recliner. Connor stood up front and addressed each of us. He took a deep breath like he had prepared this speech.
        " Siblings, Friends, Cicero..."
        " Hey! "
" Lend me your ears, for I have a tale of woe to spin for you that spans across many dimensions and proceeds all of time and space. "
Gaius interrupted Connor and retorted, " Connor, your dramatic rash is acting up again. " He got a couple chuckles, which pacified him.
" As I was saying, a while back my internet friend John informed me of a little game. A game called SBurb. " He pulled a bunch of discs out of his pack and passed them out to us. Each had two copies, a client and a server.
" Now, John said this game was supposed to be off the chain, so we're all gonna play it. Got it!" He added some force to his voice which surprised us all. It was rare that Connor got serious, but when he did, we all listened.
" We need to make a client server loop, so I elected all of your clients and servers already. " He pulled out a piece of paper, and started to read off names.
" Harrison, you will be the server to Gaius. Gaius will be server to Nymeria. Nymeria will be server to Iradessa. Iradessa will be server to Cicero. Cicero will be server to me. I will be server to Harrison. Any questions? "
Cicero raised his hand, " Yeah I've got one. What does Joe think about all this? "
Connor took a minute to wipe the look of 'what the fuck are you talking about ' long enough to respond. " Joe who? " And then it was all over.
" JOE MAMA! " We all laughed and Connor got all flustered then laughed with us. Eventually after we finally stopped, we watched a movie and then we all left for home.
As i was walking i couldn't help but think what this game was gonna be like. Apparently we were going to be in the game, whatever that meant. It felt as though Connor was hiding something from us, but I didn't want to push. He was a good friend and hadn't let us down.
Tomorrow we would be entering the game and we would have the time of our lives. For however long we still had them.
