"Murderer." A... what? Natalie often asked herself if she knew, really knew Damon, but to be honest she couldn't remember what he told her about his father when they were together, nearly 6 years ago. But she knew it did not matter because it certainly wasn't this. She looked at the man standing a few feet away from her, while she laid on the dirty, dusty and muddy floor.
"You don't understand. I had my reasons. He was dying anyway- he had cancer. He was delusional, he wanted to throw everything away. He never cared about anything, about me or our family, no one. It was always about the money for him. So one night, I put him out of his misery before he could do anymore damage. I was broken- I was literally in pieces for months if not years, and when I met you-" Damon turned towards Natalie, " I couldn't handle myself. I was young and immature and I fucked everything up, severely. I am still so very sorry about it. You deserved so, so much better. Not this toxic bullshit we had. But now I know and I understand but I can't take back everything that happened. I can only wish you'd understand." He explained himself towards her, and to be honest, she did not care. It was probably more than 10 years ago, his father's body was cold nonetheless and she was still laying there, tied, wishing to get the hell out of there as soon as possible. Preferably hundreds of miles away from this lunatic with a gun she once trusted.
"Bravo, bravo. I guess she was worth all the trouble after all. Now everyone will know, and you will lose everything." Justin spat at him. But instead of feeling troubled, Damon laughed.
"Take it all, asshole! Take it all away, the company, the money, the cars and the houses. I hate it all anyway, it's filled with poison and hatred and it makes you sick. But I guess it's already too late for you, judging by the state of your sanity."
Natalie was shocked at all he said. She did not expect him to feel like that towards his businesses and wealth. It made her feel surprised, and kind of warm on the inside.
"You let me go, and Natalie, and we'll never look back. We'll be out of your life for good, and you'll be free to build your little empire all you want. Just. Let. Us. Go."
Justin looked confused at Damon, like he was questioning his motives. When Natalie looked into his eyes- he looked truly insane. Like he completely lost his mind. And then he whispered something under his breath. Damon looked at him with a questioning look.
"What about Rachel?" Justin asked, thinking deeply. What about her? Natalie wanted to ask, but couldn't. Damon looked rather puzzled. "What is she to gain from all this?" Damon asked and Justin looked straight at him and laughed. "You, dickhead. She's completely smothered with you. She was to get you."
"I know just the thing to shut her up." Damon exclaimed and Justin seemed intrigued. "We simply tell her to shut up and gain a promotion as a top model in your company, or we'll blame it all on her. Tell everyone it was her idea."
"Do you think it'll work? She's gonna want revenge, especially on you. She doesn't like to lose." Justin asked suspiciously. "If it doesn't work, I'll take care of her. You have my word." Damon assured him as Natalie managed to get her roped hands a bit loose. She felt the sting of her burnt skin as she struggled for escape. Sweat drops fell down her forehead and she did not even want to think about her painfully broken nail. Justin tightened his grip on the gun.
"You're telling me you'd just willingly take care of everything and leave it all to me? Do you think I'm that fucking dumb?" Justin's words worried Damon beyond words. The suspense was in the air and he knew whatever was going to happen would happen soon enough.
"Listen, Justin. I just want Natalie and a life as far away from you as possible, okay? So just take it easy and we can talk this out." It was like talking to a madman, there was no taking anything easy.
Damon and Justin started walking in circles and there was no attention paid to Natalie at all. Justin was laughing historically and about to go further than he planned to. He was getting angry and impatient. Natalie started getting ready and moving.
"You don't wanna do this, man. This isn't you." Yes, Damon, keep talking to him. Natalie thought as she moved towards a broken tombstone. She quietly untied her legs as well and struggled to get closer to the rocks unnoticed.
"I can't do this, man. I need it. I worked so, so way harder than you ever did. You don't deserve it, you're a cheat-" Then Justin cocked his gun and fired, but that was after Natalie got to her feet and hit him in the back of his head with a giant, broken rock from a tombstone after which he fell, completely unconscious to the floor. There was blood coming from his head. Damon was fine and immediately walked up to her.
"Did I... Did I kill him?" Then Damon took the gun from the floor and fired it at his lifeless back once more- filling the room with hard noise. "Now we'll never know who killed him." Damon said as he took the recorder from Justin's pocket and crushed it with his foot.
