Romeo hadn't left her mind the next few days. Each time she thought about their first date, it brought a smile onto her lips. It was fun at first and then the sex was out of this world. He was so damn good and he knew how to please her.
But then, she remembered how quickly he was ready to go after he had his way with her. She knew he liked the sex. She could tell in the way he had complimented her, the expressions on his face and his groans.
Even though he told her he wanted her, she couldn't help thinking if she had made the right choice in agreeing to be with him. What did he see her as? Was she his girlfriend now? Was she his booty call or sidechick? She had to know. He had a wife. She had to know.
She hadn't seen him since their date. He had decided to start working from home. She had no idea why.
They continued to text each other as usual but she was nervous to ask why he chose to work from home. Would it be too awkward now to see the woman he fucks at work?
"Hailey?"
Snapping out of her daze, she returned attention to Cassie, "Hmm?"
Cassie narrowed her eyes at her, "Where did you go? You zoned out for minutes."
Hailey shrugged casually, "It's nothing."
Cassie raised a brow, "I know it's not nothing. Is this about Romeo?"
Hearing his name made her heart skip a beat.
"No,"
Cassie pursed her lips, as she stared at her best friend. She knew Hailey was lying. It was obvious she had something on her mind and she could tell it was about Romeo.
"What's going on between you two?" Cassie inquired.
"Who?" Hailey responded forcing a blank look on her face.
"Don't play dumb. Are you guys dating?"
Hailey sighed in defeat. She didn't want to lie to Cassie, but she didn't want her to judge her either.
"Um, I think so." Hailey whispered.
Cassie gasped in disbelief, "Hailey, you promised me that you wouldn't do this. We even pinky swore!"
"I know, I'm sorry," Hailey whined, covering her face. She didn't want to see the disappointed look on Cassie's face.
"When did this happen?" Cassie questioned.
"We kind of...made it...official last Saturday." Hailey whispered.
"Last Saturday?!" Cassie yelled in surprise, "Hailey, today is Wednesday. Why didn't you tell me anything?"
"Because...I don't know what I'm doing, okay? I just know that I like him a lot and he's so...he's just so...perfect and...I couldn't resist him. He makes me feel so special." Hailey muttered, slowly meeting her best friend's gaze.
"Hailey, it's all a part of his game. He'll make you feel special so that he can toy with you and then leave you heartbroken,"
"I know I've been hurt before but I think I want to take a chance with him. I won't give him my all. I won't give him my heart. If this is really a game, then, I'll just play along," Hailey replied with a sigh.
'God, what am I doing?' She thought.
"You are crazy! Are you sure about this?"
No.
"Yes," She squeaked.
"God, you're...whipped. Wait, oh, my God!" Cassie shouted as a sudden realization dawned on her, "Did you...did you sleep with him?"
Hailey swallowed and shut her eyes tightly.
"Oh my, God! You did and you didn't tell me! Hailey! Why?!"
"Cassie, please calm down. You're overreacting. It just happened, okay? I didn't plan to sleep with him. It was just supposed to be a date." Hailey sighed, rubbing her forehead in frustration.
Cassie could be a damn drama queen sometimes and it was irritating.
"Overreacting? I'm not. You didn't tell me anything. I cannot believe you slept with him on your first date. You shouldn't even have slept with him in the first place. You know he's your boss and he's mar-"
"Can you please just stop?" Hailey snapped. She didn't want to be reminded anymore that he was her boss and he was married. She just wanted to ignore that for a while and Cassie wasn't helping, "I'm fine. I'll be fine. I know what I'm doing."
Cassie released a deep breath, shaking her head at Hailey. She didn't want her to wind up heartbroken again, because it would break her too. Hailey was a good person and she deserved a good man. But, she couldn't control her life. If she wanted to be him, she'd try to be happy for her.
"I'm sorry," Cassie breathed, pulling Hailey into a tight embrace, "Just promise me, you won't fall for him and get yourself hurt?"
"I promise. I know what I'm doing. I won't let him hurt me." Hailey whispered, struggling to believe her own words.
Was she really going to be alright?
